Lexus To Debut Lightweight RC F GT Concept A Goodwood

The Lexus RC F GT concept track car and LC 500 Coupé will be on display at the Goodwood Festival of Speed this weekend.

Positioned between the Lexus RC F production car and the RC F GT3 race car, the GT concept is more than 360kg lighter than the RC F. It has the same 5.0-litre V8 powerplant and eight-speed automatic transmission as the RC F, with some minor tweaks, including a performance exhaust.

With the substantial drop in weight, the RC F GT is likely to better the RC F’s 0-62mph time of 4.5sec. It will tackle the hill climb at Goodwood along with the RC F GT3, LFA and GS F.

I must say that I'd love to be able to see it.

Over time, the RC has really grown on me.

Despite all the pundits slagging the RCF for its weight and handling that supposedly isn't as good as a BMW, I have had several opportunities to push the RCF and I truly enjoy it.

The RCF is oddly like an American pony car in its execution.

Yes, you can feel its mass kind of like how the stick axle GT500 always made you aware of its mass but to a lesser degree.

Yes, it is not as razor sharp =--ironically--as a GT350, but I do find the RCF to have personality.

The RCFGT should be a delight.

I cannot wait to get behind the wheel of the LC500.

Let's also not forget the fact that the RC F just finished FIRST IN CLASS at the 24 Hours of Nurburgring and 24th overall. The carbon TVD is one very capable car on the road and apparently the track--with or without the backseat, air conditioning system, and Mark Levinson sound system in the car.
