2017 Ford Torino – A Legend is Coming to Life
The original Torino was a mid-size family car which was, at first, just the upscale version of the Fairlane. Later down the road this car became a standalone model which was quite successful, especially in its two-door body style. It was larger than the Mustang, and it was also offering more powerful engines in the base trim level. Unfortunately, for the past four decades, the car has been missing from the market, but there are some rumors about a new 2017 Ford Torino.

Is it April 1 already?

I seriously doubt Ford will be doing a rear-wheel-drive Torino sedan and coupe and definitely they will not be doing so for 2017. If a 2017 Torino were happening, the prototypes would have been running around and a concept would have been shown.

If you look closely at the Fusion and Continental, you can see why we're not seeing news of a new Taurus for the USA. Fully optioned, the Fusion comes close to $40K and the base Continental starts at $45K well equipped. Lincoln in effect got the new Taurus.

I predict the MKZ will last only a while longer. Probably when the next, all-new Focus arrives, Lincoln will pull a named CLA fighter off it. The MKZ's role will continue to be a loss leader until then.

Lincoln wants more than anything for the Continental to transact at list price. The base Continental is nicely equipped and finding one will be easy. The MKZ which now has the Continental's face will be the one we incentivize for people who want the Continental but hesitate on paying $45-50K for it.

If RWD products other than the Mustang were to materialize, I imagine they would be more expensive than the Mustang, and thus better suited to being Lincolns.

Ford needs to drop this mess and just release a good updated version of the Merkur XR4ti.

There is no Torino in the pipeline. The vehicle shown has been the 2017 Torino, the 2016 Torino, the 2015 Torino, and so on.

A 4-place LincStang makes much more sense than a Torino.

Yes a pipe dream at best. Ford does not seem to be interested (unlike GM)in expanding the Mustang RWD platform to any other model(which is sad)at the moment.
