CAR WARS! Drag Race Edition: Tesla Model S P85D vs. Lamborghini Huracan

One of the most impressive things about Tesla’s vehicles is just how performance ready they are right out of the box from the factory. While there may be some issues with suspect reliability and the company seems to have overcome “range anxiety,” there’s no dispute that these cars pack a serious wallop.

It seems like there’s been an endless supply of drag race videos that put all-new Teslas head-to-head along the likes of just about every exotic produced today. So, why not show one more?

This time the Model S P85D squares up with the new Lamborghini Huracan. Although this Raging Bull may be the “entry-level” Lamborghini, you wouldn’t know it because it sprints from zero to 60 at an unbelievable pace — of course this assumes you’re using Launch Control.

Some publications have tested it in the region of the mid two second range.

That said, who gets the “W?” Watch this race play out, below!

Tesla Racing Channel's P85D with the Ludicrous upgrade takes on the DragTimes Lamborghini Huracan LP610-4. Check out how these all wheel drive monsters running 0-60 MPH in less than 3 seconds do against each other.

Because the Tesla becomes a paper weight shortly after a drag or two, why would anyone want it as a performance car? It needs to remain what it is: an expensive, poorly made bauble for the rich to pretend they care about the environment without having to drive a Prius like "those" people.

The Lamborghini is the keeper of the two.

Paperweight? Put the crack-pipe down MD. The Model S is still extremely fast at 10% battery, maybe not 2.8 seconds but in the very low 3s. It is also half the price of the Lambo, will last far longer, maintenance costs are a fraction, oh and it's a frickin sedan that can carry more than one passenger. This is a race between a Lambo and a SEDAN.

If Tesla built a $300k carbon fiber Roadster to really compete with a Lambo, it would smoke it all day long (without the smoke).

Cool. More asinine remarks from resident genius MDarringer. He likes the $278,000 Lamborghini because the $130,000 Tesla is "expensive".

Just the fact that people are bothering to line up a Model S with a Huracan is amusing. People don't even do that with a Panamera Turbo S or an RS7.

Kind of silly.

What's the best Nurburgring time for the obese 4,700 lb Tesla? A lethargic 9 minutes? And after 3 laps the battery is toast. Any number of vehicles for a fraction of the price can smoke it...and keep driving long after the Tesla is out of juice.

The battery is fine, it's the power electronics and motor that need better cooling.
