SPIED On The STREET! A Spy Captures The All-New Genesis G90 FULLY EXPOSED — Would You Trade In Your Lexus For THIS?
A friend of the Agents, Fred Khaz, is up to it again. Roaming around Southern California, our friend Fred seems to attract pre-production vehicles as well as research & development cars more than anyone we know.

His latest find is pretty compelling.

Debuting at the all-new Genesis G90 at the 2016 New York Auto Show (NYIAS) this is Hyundai's first foray into its new sub brand. Who knew? People just aren't willing to spend upwards of $60,000 on a car with a big "H" on its butt.

You see, if Hyundai just removed the big "H" and kept the wings, it wouldn't of had to go through this exercise. But, that's another story for another day.

What we're looking at today are these excellent pics of the all-new G90 sitting on the street. Khan managed to capture a couple of its interior as well as two exterior snaps from the rear.

What do YOU make of it? Would you trade in your Lexus for a Korean exercise in luxury?

Two confirmed sales from friends:

One buyer went from a trouble-ridden Mercedes E to the perfect reliability of the first generation Genesis and then traded to the new Genesis and now plans to acquire the G90 as soon as the one he wants hits the lot.

Magnanimously, he's giving his Genesis to my brother and taking my brother's 5 series for the trade in. Genesis has a secret bonus for acquisition customers.

The second buyer is my brother-in-law's father who traded a 10 year old S class to gamble on an Equus and has loved not ever going to the dealer. "Colonel Tom" wants a G90.

I did a long term test drive of a K900 and was quite pleased. I cannot wait to see this.

It all depends on the "selling price".

While the current Equus LISTs for $6-7000 more than the CT6 and even more than the Continental will be -BUT it regularly sells at Hyundai dealers for big discounts. The early Equus had reliability problems - but the later versions were better. IF I had an E-class - I would go for the Cadillac - I still prefer American. And the local Cadillac dealer is a old line one who is great. THe problem is - the G90 is likely to come in well into the $60,000 base MSRP - and the CT6 is WELL under that price. For people who are looking for a Premium full size car - and looking for a low price - Hyundai is not the place to look now. The traditional Hyundai buyer is looking for a bargain. The real Bargain is elsewhere this time.

Sorry Matt - but when the Genesis first came out - it may have been the choice - but today there are other ones too. However - back to the title of the thread - and I admit that if it were between a G90 and a Cattle-catcher nose Lexus - the Lexus is in deep trouble. At least the G90 is reasonable looking. In that area - people are looking for elegance - not flash. THe Lexus is just plain UGLY.

Ok Mdarringer for the first time ever I feel bad for you when I see everyone gang up on U so I'll try to go easy.

Yes I get the whole bang for your buck the G90 offers and yes the list of features makes it a pretty competent player

HOWEVER

There is nothing groundbreaking about the list of features that makes it stand out in anyway. The interior, while I'm sure is of quality, has a generic design at best, nothing exclusively or recognizably G90.

The design is dull and ultra conservative.

Here's the thing if you are Hyundai and you launch this vehicle at a time when Brand Recognition is at a high and the 3 German Luxury Giants have a lock on global sales and market share, not to mention Mercedes has launched arguably the best generations of their legendary S and E sedans ever, you have to play hardball.

This G90 should have went balls to the wall in the design department and interior so I wouldn't have o stomach the $60k plus price tag for...a Hyundai...

Yes I'm sure this thing will snatch a few disgruntled customers from other brands but disgruntked customers also lack loyalty so as soon as they see something else that tugs at the heart strings they'll jump ship.

The G90 is a nice car, don't get me wrong, but given the current market...it's too little too late

As far as American luxury goes, it's really hard for me to imagine anyone choosing this over a CT6 or Continental, especially the Lincoln. As far as world-luxury cars, no way anyone would choose this over an S, A8, or 7. Maybe the LS only b/c it's so aged, but that would be a stretch. The only attractive point would be price, in comparison. I can only hope for Genesis that this car looks much better in the real as in pictures it does very little.

Your world is sad, myopic, and snobbish. If you drove cars without your snoot in the air, you'd discover a lot, but the car dealers in your area are thankful that you are money foolish.

Enjoy the cashrape.

I wouldn't be old enough with no taste or want for performance to have a Lexus to trade in..... And I wouldn't buy a Genisis either.

The 3.3T badge looks like Hyndai ripped it right off the back of an Audi with Quattro.

The hundreds of thousands of people who have been clamoring for a wicked expensive new Hyundai should be t-h-r-i-l-l-e-d with this new one.

no normal person would choose a huyundai over benz, bmw, audi, jaguar.

maybe this particular model over anything acura, or infiniti offer , but id still take lexus, cadillac, volvo, over huyundai.

Today - when you actually go to the dealership and make a deal - the Equus and the OLD Mercedes E class will be in the same Ballpark. For a person looking for a large Luxury car - and comparing the E class with limited rear legroom - to the Equus with 5+ inches more - and knowing that Mercedes are good 3 year cars but tend to not being reliable after that - and not caring about the "mark" - the Equus would be a choice of the people who once bought Lincoln Town Cars and Cadillac DTS - BUT the CT6 and the Lincoln Continental will give similar interior space for even less than the Hyundai.

The Genesis has been successful and getting people to trade their Audis, Benzes, and BMWs. That's fact. Usually the owners of those cars are (1) sickened by their lack of reliability and (2) appalled by steep depreciation.

Snobs won't consider the G90, but they're idiots and deserved to get screwed.

@Matt... Really, I own all German cars and outside the nav stop reading DVD's on the 2010, I don't have any problems. I am pretty sure the value of them is a lot better than anything Hyundai is putting out as well. The car is ok, but at the end of the day, people that can afford pure luxury will buy pure luxury. Afford means being able to take the car to the dealership for regular maintenance cycles as well. I look forward to what the coupe looks like, since Audi decided to follow MB and put that ipad looking thing and glue it to the dash. There goes to the new RS5.... dang

The back end is alittle non-descript. I didn't see the front but if it looks like the current Genesis, Its pretty nice looking. That said there are NO gorgeous premium sedans. The S is not gorgeous, the 7 or the A8... they're not even interesting let alone gorgeous. So styling on this I'd say is also interesting. The interior is very nice and if this comes it in the $60K range, it'll be competitive. The S and 7 have their market, a majority of which are leased and have their companies that make the payments. Pretty sure the number is 80-90% of MB/BMW & Audi sedans are leased. If one is spending one's own cash to purchase, not lease, this car will be competitive. Especially for the long term reliability. I'm w/TomM on the CT-6, I really like that car but hate their dealers and am not convinced the Continental will be all that special. I agree, American Luxury HAS a buyer base that isn't being tapped.
