While I'm not excited about Benz getting in the pick up truck business period it makes sense.

Somehow Mercedes has developed a powerful enough brand to grace the name on vehicles ranging from $30k to over $500k, from passenger vehicles to tour buses and tractor trailers, from SUVs to Cargo vans so having a pick up truck for the growing number of contractors/small biz owners now utilizing the brands vehickes only makes sense.

Will it tarnish the brand? Not likely as it's not Mercedes core competency which is luxury sedans, time will tell...

I'm giving it the Cimarron Award.

The prestigious Cimarron Award is given to car companies that badge engineer a bottom-of-the-line model and claim--with a straight face--that it's a premium vehicle.

Then again, this isn't the first Mercedes to borrow some else's platform.
