He Came, He Saw, He FAILED: Chris Evans QUITS Top Gear
Since the departure of Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May, the fate of Top Gear has been in question. Although the BBC announced an all-new lineup featuring the likes of Chris Evans, Matt LeBlanc and Chris Harris, it was not enough to draw a commanding viewership.

Audiences found Evans' presence annoying and not particularly insightful. In addition, the viewers dwindled show-over-show.

Considering Evans had boasted how his Top Gear would trump Clarkson & Co., it's rather humorous to see such a catastrophic experience. Remember, boys and girls, stay humble.

Now that Evans is out of the picture, word on the street suggests that the Beeb will turn to LeBlanc to carry the torch with a revised portfolio of presenters. Perhaps LeBlanc, Sabine Schmitz and Harris are the next trio to bring Top Gear forward?

It seems like a tall order, especially with Clarkson & Co.'s The Grand Tour starting later in 2016.

Stay tuned for the latest drama from the U.K.

...The BBC is understood to be negotiating with former Friends star LeBlanc – thought to be keen to remain on the show – for a second series. The details and success of those negotiations are not yet known. Last month, it was reported LeBlanc threatened to quit if Evans did not go. The BBC declined to confirm those reports.

Evans, who had signed a three-year deal to present and oversee the show, was its executive producer in all but name. But although the BBC invited him to continue negotiations, he is understood to have been affected by unfavourable press coverage. The show and its main presenter received almost daily negative coverage in the Sun and other tabloid newspapers...

It seems unanimous that Clarkson and Co. put on the better show. Having said that it is nearly impossible to live up to a predecessor that is the "gold standard".

Yes, Clarkson and Co. were better, but was the old gang in top form after their first show? I don't remember, but realistically it can take some time to find your way.

Top Gear is a boring failure. It is HISTORY.

None of the new crew have been as good as Clarkson, Hammond and May. They developed into very cohesive unit who work very well together. I think Reid, LeBlanc, and Harris have potential. However it is going to take time for the current crop of hosts to start to make a difference. I don't know if the show can last. It has a similar format it has always had and is looking tired.

BBC should IMMEDIATELY hire Tanner Faust from the US TopGear. Tanner is the best part of that now-cancelled show - best personality, best driver, most credible, also looks more than a little like Richard Hammond.

Tanner - send over your resume.
