Police Confirm Ex Top Gear Host Chris Evans Under Investigation For Sexual Assault

I'm no fan of Chris Evans. I in no way can look the other way on sexual assault, BUT as I understand the article, the charge is decades old. On one hand, why now? And yes I am blaming the victim, but more settlement money is available now than 20 years ago when it happened...supposedly. Moreover, sexual assault charges like this are of the "guilty until unable to be proven innocent" type. Womyns (sic) groups will come to the aid of the victim...cue man bashing.

I'm blessed with a great wife, but even she would have the same jaundiced view of this story.

I know Jeremy Clarkson is somewhere having a good ole laugh...

Anyway, MDarringer before you just blame haul off and blame the victim, let's remember one thing, this was not just some random female or chick at the bar, this was a colleague.

A good female friend of mine who happens to be an engineer went through something similar a few years ago with a guy she worked with at Boeing, and she was so depressed and eventually told everyone what was going on but refused to press charges, and as a guy I just wanted to beat the crap out of her male colleague.

Anyway females already get laid less than men on average, and in certain fields it's even harder for them to get in the door period, she loved her job, hated her colleague, but feared what would come of her telling on this guy as the attractive, fit, young, blonde she was, and as the very likable all around guy her colleague was.

All I'm saying is yes, Chris Evans Colleague could be doing this soley for money now and convenience but more power to her, he should of kept his hands and comments to himself.

Men are always seen as guilty first and even if there is no basis for the charge, the taint is always there.

You are also presuming that she is (1) telling the truth and (2) has no ulterior motive.

If it happened 20 years ago and she is coming forward now she has an ulterior motive.

This is not a womens rights issue. This is a money grab--even if it is true.

Just as I assumed she's telling the truth, you assumed she's lying, so neither one of us knows the truth, it's speculation.

All I'm saying is, it's very common for a woman to go silently for years after its happened because #1 it's humiliating, #2 she gets labeled, just as you are doing, #3 no one wants to put their career at risk for a jerk of a colleague.

What you have to realize is 20 yrs ago, she could have been in a very vulnerable entry level position wih no job security, 20 yrs later she could be more established in her field, and now just wants this A hole to pay for years of beating herself up or blaming herself for his actions

I'm not assuming she is lying. I'm assuming she waved it off years ago and now that she can get more money out of him, she's bullying him as he bullied her. I see it as a draw.

I'm smelling opportunism.

Come on Mdarringer get it together man, going after a guys wallet after he's humiliated you in the workplace, probably has effected her ability to work with men professionally, and maybe even personally is not called a "draw" as you put it, it's called Karma.
