Mercedes-Benz delivered more than one million cars to its customers worldwide in the first six months of 2016 (+12.1%), more than ever before in half a year. Trust me no one is more furious than Audi, BMW had a respectable 11 Year run at the top before Mercedes came and snatched it back, however Audi saw the light at the end of the tunnel for the last few years and just when they thought the finish line was theirs, Mercedes floored it in China overtaking BMW and Audi worldwide seemingly simultaneously...

That three pointed star is very territorial over their thrown and what a cruel joke they played on Audi

Audi has a bunch of new SUVs set to launch over the next two years including the recently revealed Q2, upcoming Q6 and Q8. I wouldn't say Audi is relegated to second or third place given that the gap between the sales leader and third place will likely be less than 100,000 units. SUVs are also taking marketshare from sedans and each of Audi's current SUVs has seen YTD sales growth in the U.S. so they know how to create desirable SUVs.

BMW is ready to launch the new X7 and X2. I was part of a paid consumer clinic for X7. And GN, there will plenty chrome surrounds around interior controls, new wood inlays, and leather dash. Looks beautiful inside. Executive/luxury package will have 2 captains chairs instead of bench seating, with no 3rd row seating for extra cargo space.

BMW needs to do something fast about its SUVs given that its YTD SUV sales in the U.S. market have been terrible in percentage terms compared to its competitors. I believe improving its interiors is the first place it should start. BMW better improve the interior of the X7 because otherwise it will just cause increased production costs and the sales will be far below its target.

Mercedes strategy is working well: Keep new product coming at a consistent pace and focus on the entire model range.
On top of the C-coupe and E-Sedans getting to showrooms this month, the C-Convertible, E-Coupe, E-Convertible, updated S-Sedan, the C43-Coupe, and more variants of the AMG GT are all forthcoming. Not to mention the testing of the new GLE has been spotted. And there is rumor that a new A-Class proper sedan might be on its way.
