VIDEO: What’s It Like To Drive One Of Today’s Most EXTREME Supercars, Daily?

If you’ve ever wondered what it is like to daily drive a 900-plus horsepower supercar, then wonder no more. That’s because McLaren has decided to play show and tell with one of its very rare P1 customers.

Go Hiramatsu is a Tokyo-based lawyer and rather than drive something a bit more discreet  or, say, be chauffeured, he has decided to fire up his bright green P1 every time he wakes up.

He’s a rare breed and we salute him for this.

Granted, in Japan we’ve seen crazier things. Like owners of former Le Mans racecars driving them on the street.

So, if you want a rare look at the life of an extraordinary individual, his life and his P1, look no further.

In Tokyo we meet Go Hiramatsu, a lawyer who uses his McLaren P1™ for the daily commute – and also takes it into the mountain passes at the weekend.

I know a guy who drives a Lamborghini Gallardo as a daily driver and--for a Lamborghini--it has loads of miles on it. He'll probably roll over 100K miles if he hasn't already. There's a lot of regular maintenance the car needs, but it's been reliable.

I've ridden with him in bumper-to-bumper traffic on the freeway in Seattle and that's where it's a bit scary because you cannot see anything.

His attitude is that it's a car and cars are to be driven as cars and not be museum pieces.

The most miles on a Gallardo I've heard of was 45,000. At that point the engine needed replacement. So that's 2 engine replacements by 100k miles. Cheaper just to lease a new Hurracan.

If you're driving like a jackass all the time, sure, you can kill any engine at 45K miles, but the Lamborghini V10 has a LOT of Audi sturdiness to it.

He's done routine maintenance and frequent oil/filter changes @ 3K miles and it's dead reliable.

To my knowledge it has never stranded him nor failed to start. It's also not had a whole lot of fix-it issues either.

That surprised me.

Most Ferraris starting from the F430 have been reliable as well.
