Why Do So Many Hollywood Celebrities Suffer Through Prius Ownership?
Jeff Goldblum, for those who are unfamiliar, is a famous actor who has starred in films such as Jurassic Park and Independence Day. So needless to say he is pretty successful and very well respected in Hollywood. Unfortunately though he suffers from something many celebrities suffer from, which is Prius ownership.

I speculate they feel better about themselves, and in believing others will think better of them, by giving the appearance of being "green." E.g., "I have a yacht, my own jet, and a 12,000 square foot mansion (that needs to be heated, cooled, watered, and maintained) but hey, I drive a Prius! See how I care for the planet?"

There's also the possibility they actually believe that owning a Prius does a whole lot of good for the planet (without looking at the whole picture of their impact or "footprint").

Personally, if you want to have the biggest possible positive impact on the planet, looking long-term, over the next several hundred years: don't breed!*

______
*Based on an (overly?) simplistic mathematical model in which a breeding human produces just 1.1 offspring at age 25 and lives to age 75, if you don't breed, then you put zero additional lives on this planet. If you do breed, then over the next 300 years, you'll be responsible for adding almost 27 additional humans during that time, each consuming resources. At the end of 300 years, 9.44 of your ancestors will still be living.

I rather have a working appliance than a dead sexy paper weight!

Maybe he likes appliances. Some people get a big kick out of appliances and I don't think they think that they "suffer". I'll tell you about my "suffering" though. I suffer when I have to listen to the loud bursts of gurbling V-8 on a normal staid boulevard where traffic is going at 35 mph because the driver is trying to get some attention to his/her newly leased car that is in some bank's name and will have to be returned in 3 years time. But hey, that's the world we live in, right?

800over wrote to supermoto "You should buy one!"

Why? Because you think he'd like it, or so you could shoot him when you see him in one? Text can be confusing at times.

I should get a Prius? Lol. That's like saying I should get a Casio G-Shock instead of a new Patek or Audemars. Thanks but I worked hard enough and long enough so I can enjoy the finer things in life - and a Prius is not even close.

First:

You mention Jeff Goldblum and the two movies you site are Independence Day and Jurasic Park. SHAME ON YOU!!!

Jeff Goldblum, from such movies as 'The Fly' and 'The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension'

Second:

While I am no fan of the Prius, if there is any vehicle a celebrity, or any licensed driver, has to suffer through is Lexus RX ownership.

Maybe as said they wish to "fly under the radar", or they suffer from common sense.

Every household should have a Prius in my opinion, the car is practical, looks decent, and is trendy. My ideal 3 car setup would be 911 C4S, G550, and a Prius.

MBKing: Your formula sounds an awful lot like the guy who orders a pizza with everything on it and a diet soda. In his mind, the diet soda counteracts the pizza. Perhaps that's the formula in the mind of rich folks who drive a Prius: It's the antidote for all their other excesses.

I never felt safe in one, or could imagine driving one in the winter, or on pot-holed roads.

Hollywood people all suffer from liberal mental retardation. They must mindlessless obey the tenants of the brain washing religion and drive only 'green' cars that appear to be green but really require tons of coal powered electricity to run their vehicle. As with all liberals, they are obstinate hypocrites.
