Audi A9 Concept an-all new model!

Audi A9 Concept an-all new model!
Back in 2013, the Audi A9 Concept was being revealed and nearly a year after that, the A9 Prologue was being shown. The two cars were Audi’s statement that they want to make something bigger, more luxurious and more powerful than the A8. Well, it now seems that a new A9 concept might be coming our way. The release date is currently under wraps, and there are very few details about it.

Also, unlike pretty much all of their other cars, the A9 might get to use a Porsche-derived platform. This would be based on the same chassis as the Panamera, which is a highly impressive car.

This means that while the longitudinally mounted engine will stay, not much else will be shared with the other Audi lineup. The running gear, engines and likely most of the design are going to be unique. This should make the upcoming A9 the true masterpiece Audi wants it to be.

They simply must do something other than same old same old same old.

A complete stylistic break is necessary because the Audi design language is played out to the point of caricature.

I'd love to see an Audi that only shares the 4 rings with other Audis.

"They simply must do something other than same old same old same old."

and Audi will. There is an article that reveals more design details on the upcoming A8, A7 and A6 models. The details create a picture of a complete departure from the current design language.

"Complete departure". Oh, Nuttie. I truly adore your loyalty to Audi, I do. I adore your delusion even more.

I own a 2015 Audi Q5 3.0 TDI, and I love it (for the most part). I got it in a rush because I DIDN'T want anything that looks like the picture at the top of this page. The new Audi TT and new R8 summon a grand "meh" from me in terms of styling :-( I don't care in the least for Audi's new styling direction.

If I were a betting man and you asked me to predict what the new A9 (or A8) will look like, I'd say like the current A8, except with sharper and straighter creases, flatter panels, squintier/angrier looking headlights, and an interior that's overflowing with straight lines, a blocky center console, and much of the controls you need replaced by a complex, multi-step, menu-driven computer screen that's terrible for real-time interaction. Gentlemen, place your bets.

Cidflekken, you'll adore Audi's new aggressive and differentiated design language and groundbreaking technology features even more.

1) Flared wheel arches and the current 'RS' aggressive design language as the standard design for basic non-RS Audi models

2) Even more aggressive 'RS' model designs than what we see currently see

3) Fully autonomous driving up to 40 mph

4) The ability to stand on the sidewalk and park your Audi through a phone app

5) The ability to recognize common routes and automatically enable the navigation to go home from work

6) The ability to recognize when the driver is incapacitated and safely pull the car over and call for emergency assistance.

Make no mistake Audi is on a mission.

Nuttie, we are strictly talking about design here. Flared wheel arches and more aggressive RS designs is hardly promising. Basically, lipstick on a pig is what you're saying, right?

@BobM Nowhere did I say that each of Audis models should be distinctively different stylistically from each of their others models.

The Audi styling language is played out, tired, and dull and I certainly not alone in that assessment. What they need is something like the Audi Fox (80) that trumped the dated look of the 90/100 or how the A4 trumped the dated look of the 80/90/100/200. They've morphed the original A4's look over and over to the point that it has run out of steam.

The Fox and the A4 were styling "about faces" from the dated models that preceded them. Audi needs to do that again. A big old Ford Fusion face isn't going to cut it.

You may also want to go to Barnes and Noble and buy a book on grammar.

Regarding the A9, there is a very strong chance Audi will create a flagship two-door coupe to battle the Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe and BMW 6-Series Coupe.

Audi has many of the essentials for a flagship coupe already available at its disposal such as platform, engines etc. and can use its existing engines or borrow heavily from either Porsche and/or Bentley. That's the beauty of being part of the Volkswagen Group conglomerate.

Wow—the A9 ass end looks like a 1998 Lincoln Mark III. Way to go in the styling department, Audi!

People who think a brand will lose its hallmark traits fail to see the big picture. Audi can do a complete design departure while mainting it's large grille.

Yet, the large grill is not a legacy feature but much more of a recent thing. It's only been a feature for 10-12 years and before that Audi grilles were much more subdued.
