CAR WARS! Drag Race Edition: Jaguar F-Pace vs. Porsche Macan GTS
These days sport-utility vehicles are getting astronomically powerful. When you think about it, there's a slew of high-performance SUVs that are actually performing better than some of today's sports cars.

It's hard to believe but this is a sign of the times.

Having said that, it shouldn't be too out of the realm of possibility to see more SUVs drag racing for bragging rights. The reality is that there will always be racing. Hell, if you get a couple enthusiasts together with scooters you better believe it's on like Donkey Kong.

In this SUV showdown, it's not a battle trying to figure out which can fit more baby seats, it's a straight up drag race.

The contestants are the all-new Jaguar F-Pace and Porsche Macan GTS. See how this race unfolds, below!

Can someone correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the F-Pace compares more in line with the Cayenne?

Yep

It's priced more like a Macan hence the comparison. A LOT of buyers cross shop on price NOT within a segment. The Jaguar is simply more for the money. What its quality and reliability are remains to be seen and Jaguar has a LONG way to go to catch up to Porsche on those aspects.

The F-Pace is a crossover based on the modular car platform (shared with the XE, XF, ...). The Cayenne is a truck-based SUV which competes with the larger LR Range Rover. Size wise, the F-Pace and RR are a notch larger than their Porsche counterparts. They are also priced lower than Porsches. The Macan GTS is at least 10 grands more than the F-Pace R-Sport. Performance OTOH is in the Macan's favor as shown in the video.

In the video, the F-Pace is the top-line S (380hp) not the R-Sport I mentioned. Hope Jaguar will eventually stuff a V8 in the F-Pace to make it more competitive with the Macan Turbo and upcoming GLC63.

@HenryN the Cayenne is NOT truck based. It's a unibody crossover softroader.
