SPIED On The STREET! The All-New, LWB Volkswagen Tiguan Has Been Caught In The States!
You don't have to look too far to see that Volkswagen has been hurting. Though the company pre-Dieselgate was moving units on a global basis, it seemed that VW's efforts in The States were a bit sterile.

There's only so many Jettas and Passats you can sell.

Just ask Mdarringer. He's been saying for what feels like far too long that Volkswagen's biggest hold in the portfolio was the lack of a proper seven-seat sport-utility vehicle. Well, it seems like the company finally has heard.

While we've shown you the spy snaps of a long-wheelbase Tiguan for the Chinese market, we've got some all-new pictures to share with you. That would be a completely bare LWB Tiguan doing its testing right here in the US-of-A.

Though it may not seem like a big deal, this is a clear indication that the company will be shipping it here. Typically, automakers do some product testing here to make sure that the vehicle is optimally tuned for the U.S.-market.

According to reports, expect it to arrive in Q1 2017. With an additional four plus inches in the wheelbase and a longer rear overhang, its expected to offer a foldable third row that can be best used by children rather than adults.

As diesels are the work of the devil now, expect it to benefit from the Tiguan's standard issue, gasoline motors.

Not a good looking vehicle. So many borrowed BMW X-Series design cues.

From the side, it has the shape of old Chrysler Pacific nose joined to an old X5 rear by an extra large rear door.

So, not only is this design already a been-there-done-that look, but the concept or a 2-row and 3-row model is already being used by Hyundai with its Santa Fe Sport and Santa Fe. And those wheels look like they came straight out of the RAV4 overstock garage.

I applaud VW for finally getting it with a 3-rower. But from a design standpoint, there doesn't appear anything compelling. Then again, the current Tiguan is a aged frog sitting on a steaming pile.

Supposedly the introductions of the Tiguan and the CrossBlue have been delayed until March or April.

Not only a non-game-changer but also a bad reputation when it comes to reliability.

I'm waiting to see equipment and pricing before I decide what to replace my TDI Passat with. The current Tiguan is too expensive and lacking far too many features compared to the competition. Right now I'm inclined to go with either the Mazda CX-5 or Subaru Forester. Fully loaded for about $34k, which is about $5k less than a fully equipped Tiguan with less equipment and lower MPG.
