If you invest in a high-performance automobile, there’s a very high percentage chance that you’re going to drive the pants off of it. Regardless of the circumstances, which includes your skill level, weather conditions and in some awful cases, sobriety, these machines are expected to be at the top of their game at all times.
The problem is that’s not always realistic.
Recently, I had the chance to drive a Lamborghini Aventador Roadster and it had several Check Engine lights. With something of the Italian persuasion that’s essentially a race car prepped for the street, that’s not a shocker.
An overheating problem with the daily driver Chevrolet Corvette Z06, on the other hand, is a bit of a shocker. That’s because typically speaking these American ‘Vettes are built to take a walloping.
According to reports, the pre-2017 model year Z06s had a batch of cars that had overheating issues. General Motors claims it is only five percent of the units in owner’s hands but that doesn’t mean it isn’t important. For 2017, Chevrolet will be making a hardware fix to ensure this doesn’t happen going forward and the Z06 still makes its 650 horsepower and 650 lb.-ft. of torque.
As expected, the non 2017 cars will also get the fix.
