SPIED: FIRST Spy Shots Of The Next-Gen Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class SUV
In the New York Tri-State Region it's been remarkable to see Mercedes-Benz's success with a simple refresh and nomenclature change of the former ML-Class sport-utility vehicle. Now called the GLE-Class, we've been stunned to see SO many of the new vehicles on the road.

The GLE has taken off like a rocket.

Here's the funny thing though: When anyone asks me my thoughts on the GLE I tell them to go cross shop it against the Jeep Grand Cherokee. That's because it's what I'd buy instead. Although I've gotten used to COMAND, Uconnect is better and I could get the Grand Cherokee at a lower cost. Why not, right?

Now that the three-pointed star has shipped the updated GLE though it's time to set its sights on the all-new generations GLE. We're thinking that Mercedes will push the envelope a bit more with this next-gen product. That's because it will be a fully in-house project not done in conjunction with Chrysler. In addition, we're thinking that all of Mercedes' whiz-bang tech will make it into this vehicle. After all, the all-new E is the technological tour de force in the German company's line up.

And, as always, expect the GLE to increase in size, which will translate into a roomier back seat and cargo hold. Hell, given the way the market's been going lately, don't be surprised if Mercedes squeezes a third row back there.

As of now the vehicle's quite heavily camouflaged, but it's readily apparent that this will feature newer, swoopier styling and its proportions will change quite a bit. Stay tuned for more pics as the clothing comes off the all-new GLE-Class SUV.

With Mercedes killing it with the mildly redone ML renamed GLE, I can only imagine how wonderful a truly new one would be.

Sadly for Jeep there will be no platform sharing this time.

After spending some time w/ the GLC we're expecting the next-gen GLE to wipe the floor with the competition.

I wonder if Mercedes' SUVs will morph into look-a-likes like the S/E/C classes. Based on the appearance of a pinched and tucked C/D pillar area, ala the GLC, this might be happening.

There's a good chance this SUV will look more E-Class-like.
