2018 Dodge Barracuda
With all of its competitors receiving massive updates, the Challenger has been left unchanged by the FCA group. The car has been out for nearly 10 years now and it won’t go for much longer. So far there have been many rumors about a successor and it finally seems that it is starting to take shape.

A new FCA pony car is a good idea. Calling it Barracuda is dumb. Challenger is established. Barracuda is long forgotten.

The Cuda is a shorter wheelbase... think difference of M2 to M4. There's a market, yet I think it might already be saturated by a swarm of retro-Pony cars.

The Challenger is gargantuan relative to the Mustang and Camaro and also HEAVY. If the smaller Barracuda were the new Challenger, that could make a difference with sales. Sales of the Challenger are merely OK at the moment.

Wasn't the Barracuda a Plymouth? I don't understand why FCA would use a lesser-known model name, especially during a time when automakers tend to highlight tech advances with their current models.

See Chevy. They made the newest Camaro smaller & lighter...but kept the same model name. The rumored engine options sounds cool. Only thing that might hold a good muscle car back (regarding sales & perception) is the model name.

Dodge Barracuda just does not roll off my tongue. As a past owner (1967 model) I suggest they do like they've done with trucks. They moved them under the Ram subheading. Let's take all the FCA performance models and label the SRT. I can accept something called the SRT Barracuda better than Dodge.

Ugh. Then all promo pushes for the car, we'll just hear Heart's "Barracuda" playing. Don't get me wrong, it's a great classic song, but it'll be abused.

Another speculation article repeatedly containing the word "should" found in a generic website. And we treat it as though it is Gospel. Man, are we dumb.

Just to set the record straight, the 'Cuda is not forgotten, but it will be stillborn if they tag it as a Dodge.
