Kia's New GT Closes In On Showroom Debut - Will It Give The BRZ And GT86 A Run For The Money?

It’s five years since Kia first showed the GT concept at the 2011 Frankfurt show, but now the long wait for its production equivalent is almost over.

The showroom version, due next year, will stick closely to the formula suggested by the GT concept. That means a rear-wheel drive chassis and low-slung, coupé-like styling, with a variety of engines that will include a high-performance version.

This will not compete against the BRZ/FRS. Why would anyone want to compete against a market failure? This is a much larger car. Marketed properly, they could throw it at the Mustang/Camaro segment.

Yes. The idea is to have something that actually sells at the Cadenza's price point because the Cadenza simply does not sell. It's on track to sell 5K units this year. A Korean "muscle car" could have a better shot.
