Audi Set a September Sales Record

Audi of America, Inc., today reported 8,004 vehicle sales for the month of September, a 1.9 percent increase compared to the same period year ago. Audi sales are up 4.9 percent for the year.

Sales of the all-new Audi Q7 SUV were 1,333 in September, the highest monthly total since the launch of the vehicle. The A4 lineup had its best month this year, recording 4,497 sales.

“The all-new Audi Q7 SUV continues to attract new consumers to the brand,” said Johan de Nysschen, Audi of America, Inc., executive vice president. “We expect continued strong consumer interest with the introduction of the 280 horsepower V6 engine for the Q7.”

Audi sales during the third quarter totaled 22,124, one of the strongest quarters in the brand’s U.S. history. Traditionally strong in the U.S. northeast, Audi is making inroads in key metropolitan markets such as Miami, Los Angeles, Atlanta, and Dallas.

Audi recorded 2,039 Certified Pre-owned (CPO) sales during September. The Audi A8 and A4 models continued strong performance, up 20 percent and 10 percent, respectively.

Audi’s history in America dates to 1969, when the brand was first introduced to the U.S. market. Today, a network of over 260 Audi dealers currently offers a line of premium vehicles that include the Audi A3 compact; the sporty A4 sedan, Avant and Cabriolet models; the high performance S4 sedan, Avant and Cabriolet models; the high-revving RS 4 sports sedan; the design-leading A6 sedan and Avant; the all-new Audi Q7 SUV; the all-aluminum Audi A8; and the new V10-powered S6 and S8 performance sedans.

Actually the Q7 has been the sole reason sales have increased for the last three months. TT sales are dead until the new model arrives.

The Q7 came on in June (exactly when car sales slumped) and has either offset or taken sales away in the auto lineup. However the overall figure for the year show a 4.9% increase for the brand.

Keep in mind, both MB and BMW are down in the same month, so a marginal increase for Audi is a big win.

The Q7 has added sales, but some might have come at an expense of some A6 or maybe even A8 sales. If the Q7 wasn't there the sales would have been lower, but not lower by the whole amount of Q7 sales. All in all great stuff, steady improvement every month and every year for Audi.

Why wouldn't the Q7 be included, toughy and logical, if the X5, X3, ML, GL and G are left in by you each month?

That's not an excuse at all. If it weren't for BMW/Merc's SUVs, their sales in the US would be cut in half.

Let me correct my previous post...MBUSA posted a 13% increase over last September. They're also up 13% YTD as well. Sorry about the misinformation. However, BMW is down for the month of Sep.

Let me also add, that MBUSA counts cars entered into loaner service as "Sold Units", thereby showing more cars sold than reality.

Well, look at the fact that the allroad is not here, the TT is not here and people have been waiting for the redo, the A4/S4 convert with the new face and 2.0 instead of the 1.8 or v8 with the 40/60 split still isn't here. The more FSI v8 A6 & A8 isn't here either, so I think for some still dated product, the sales are still ok compared to rivals that have more sedans, convertibles, and suv's to sell, not to mention a newer product...but Audi is making some head way.
