SPIED! First All-New Ford Focus RS Models Land At Dealers With HUGE Mark Up — Would YOU Pay Up?
One of this years most highly anticipated releases isn't coming from the likes of the Germans or Italians. Yes, it's coming from the Americans.

And no, we're not talking about the all-new Ford GT.

Though we are talking about a Ford. That would be the all-new Focus RS. This marks a tremendous step forward for those who love Ford Performance vehicles. That's because the all-new Focus RS is the first RS to come to The States.

As this is a watershed moment for the blue oval, you had to suspect that dealers would leverage this situation. If you guessed so months ago, today is your pay day. Ford dealers are marking up the all-new RS. According to one Monroney that Agent 001 ran across, the RS was commanding a $10,000 mark up. This makes the RS now a $55,000 product.

That said, we just have to ask: Would you pony up the extra bills for a Focus RS?

Depends on the dealer. Reputable ones screened buyers and are selling at list.

Nope, I would not pay 10k over list. Wait 6-8months or hunt down a reasonable dealer.

I would never pay a markup...like throwing good money down a hole. Either order car from dealer well in advance of delivery upon first hearing about it and put deposit down for MSRP or wait six months after they arrive when prices drop down to normal levels. I once ordered a Honda S2000 two years before they hit the market. Dealer said he never heard of model but if I put $500 down he would agree to MSRP. When it came in he hesitated but lived up to his commitment while others put large markups on theirs.

Individual dealers can set prices as they see fit, but Ford tends to favor dealers who do not mark up by giving them more allotment.

How they handled sales of the GT points to that.

There is also hysteria that the 2016 run has been cut short so people are even more charged, but it's August and the 2017 model year is upon us and more Focus RS allotment will be apart of the 2017 batch.

I wouldn't pay markup but they could sucker me into some of the dealer installed options, as they often do for early deliveries.

Look-There is a lot of hype for this car right now. I'd probably wait a year or so an see if prices come down to a more reasonable level. At a 10 grand mark up that is right smack in the middle of M2 pricing. Now as good as a Focus RS is and it's AWD at 55 K I'd like a better quality interior that the M2 offers over the RS. In terms of driving ability they are pretty evenly matched with RS offering AWD. But 55K is a lot for an econocar interior.
