Focus RS500 touted to be Ford's fastest Hatchback when it hits the market.

Although I love the Focus ST and RS and know I would be giddy over an RS500, the Focus desperately needs a clean sheet replacement. Its age is starting to show.

The current Focus is largely a rebody of the Focus II which bypassed the US market which means that the platform is 13 years old and the replacement is still a few years away.

It's not incompetent, but its age is showing.

Still not an unusual method to drag it on a few more years with a few special hot rod models to give it a new glow. Ford seems to be having 80s flashbacks....which is a good thing! I used to drool ar the Sierra Cosworths zipping around the autobahn, although they were certainly a fairly rare site.

The AMC Pacer was American motors'WIDEST Hatchback when it came out too.

However - Hatchbacks are not big sellers in the US market anymore - so calling it the FASTEST hatchback Ford will make = it could be powered by a twisting rubber band and still win that title
