BMW And Lexus Are Losing Sales To Jaguar, Land Rover And Volvo

Strong sales by Volvo and Jaguar are giving the luxury market in the U.S. a new look and challenging for the first time in a decade the dominance of BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Lexus.

Mercedes-Benz is the top luxury brand in the U.S. and it increased its sales by 7% during July as the industry seasonally adjusted annual rate of sales topped 17.88 million units, the best number so far this year. But both BMW and Lexus saw their sales decline. BMW sales dropped 4% and Lexus sales dropped 6.5%

Yeah but what happens to Jaguar and Volvo sales after the early adopters flood dealers, buy/lease, and go home?

The service departments will be flooded with problems, and no loaner cars....LOL!!

You're wrong. LOL Jaguar and Volvo will pad sales by making dealers buy loaner cars to then resell as CPO.

I do hope Jaguar and Volvo can deliver quality products and that reliability will be fine too.

Whenever a new vehicle shows up, trendy buyers gotta have it and sales seem to be on fire. If the car is actually good then word gets out and sales have a shot be sustainability. If the experience of the trendy folks is bad, they tend to amp up their outrage which has a ripple effect.

The Ghibli was a huge hit for a few heartbeats and then those trendy folks realized it was not "fully baked" for American tastes. As a consequence, Maserati sales are challenged.

The Giulia will be a sensation, but...

More like BMW and Lexus are losing sales to Audi.

Audi was up 4% in July and is up 3.6% YTD.

BMW was down 4.4% in July and is down 8.4% YTD.

Lexus was down 6.5% in July and is down 4.9% YTD.

Audi is gaining market share at the expense of BMW and Lexus.

I am just happy to see the Brits and Swedes (or is that India???) challenging the Germans! Love German cars but I want more choices.

I refuse to buy any vehicle unless it is blessed by both GermanNut AND MDarringer.

Unfortunately, that list does not currently include anything, so I will be taking the bus for the foreseeable future.

And that is fitting given that you're a kneeling, apologetic, Liberal Greenie. It's good that you know your place.

So now the old people who I see driving Lexuses are attracted to Jaguars, Land Rovers and Volvos now? I in CA see even the brand Lexuses are still mostly driven by old 60+ year old people.

Money is money. 25 year olds aren't buying the S Class unless they are entertainers, ballers, or narcotraficantes.

Jaguar's road side service is WORTHLESS. Jag refused to send out a tow truck to retrieve my brother's 4 month old Jag that broke down.
Jaguar ownership? NEVER AGAIN!

I would much rather buy a BMW X5 than a Tata F-Pace or a Geely XC90!!
