EV Industry Worries VW's Mandatory Infrastructure Investment Will Be Used To Gain An Unfair Advantage
Electric vehicle charging companies are calling for independent oversight of the $2 billion Volkswagen Group is required to invest in clean car infrastructure in the U.S., saying the company should not have the power to shape the developing EV charging system.

VW agreed to invest the money, which includes $1.2 billion nationally and $800 million in California, as part of its penalties for equipping hundreds of thousands of its diesel vehicles sold in the U.S. with software designed to cheat emissions tests.

While charging station companies called the money a potential game changer, they worry that if it is misspent, it could hurt competition.

There's not winning with Greenies. VW is forced to drop $2B on infrastructure and the Greenies are all got their greedy hands out to get a piece of the pie. VW is the perfect company for them: self-serving and greedy.

Sheesh, people. Make up your mind. If you require them to make the investment (which isn't a bad thing), don't them claim the power to tell them what to do with it. That's a sure way to screw things up, get people that have no idea what it takes to run an auto manufacturer to tell them what to do.
