Audi's July 2016 Global Sales Rise 2.3% With YTD Up 5.2% - Maintains Close Race For Second Place
AUDI AG has started the second half of the year with sales growth: In July, the company sold 149,400 units, up 2.3 percent year-on-year. The brand increased sales in all three core regions – in North America by 5.9 percent, in Asia-Pacific by 4.4 percent and in Europe by 1.5 percent. The new Audi A4 was the bestselling model worldwide with around 30,450 units and growth of 14.9 percent. Since January, the carmaker has delivered around 1,102,650 cars to customers from its entire portfolio, an increase of 5.2 percent.

“At present we are facing numerous economic and political challenges in key markets. Despite these increasingly difficult overall conditions, the global demand for Audi models has remained stable,” says Dietmar Voggenreiter, Member of the Board of Management for Sales and Marketing at AUDI AG. “With our three strong regional pillars – our business in Europe, North America and Asia-Pacific – we are well placed to offset market fluctuations globally.”

A 2.2% appears great, but when one of your volume drivers (A4) is brand new and supposedly highly anticipated, in addition to the supposed popularity of the new Q7, one would think growth would be a bit higher. So, not sure what this signals for the brand.

So Audi is up 5.2% YTD? That's pretty good. Of course, BMW is up 5.6% YTD. The same BMW you're always saying is tanking like a garbage fire. 5.6% of a higher number is more than 5.2% of a lower number, right? Just checking.

Yeah, but don't forget BMW sells more models than Audi does. What happens when Audi launches the Q6 and Q8 SUVs?

Let's not forget the big picture here JRob, your beloved BMW is getting lapped by Mercedes-Benz. Mercedes-Benz is growing globally at twice the rate of BMW so far this year and has been growing much faster than BMW since the end of last year.

that's fine, frankly I don't think being the best selling luxury brand is a good thing to aspire to. I think Mercedes, BMW, et al should want to be the most desired brand, not the best selling one. But either way, Mercedes makes great products, so good for them. I like Mercedes. I used to like Audi, too, until they filled up the internet with hired trolls such as yourself spinning lies and shouting drivel from the rooftops.

And what happens when BMW introduces the new 5er and X7. Here is a interesting tidbit from 6/23/2010,

@Germannut "What happens when Audi launch the Q6 and Q8?"

Probably not much... what happens when BMW launch an A3 Sedan competitor?

"Audi comes THIRD - trails Mercedes AND BMW!"

That would have been a far better title for this post...

As long as it remains what it is--a Golf with a $15K price increase--they can do it forever.

As long as BMW sells out with cheap leases on the 3-Series.
