SPIED: Ford’s Performance Vehicles Working On The über Mustang — Is THIS Frankenstein Car The Upcoming GT500?
Recently, Agent 009 posted a story about an all-new Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 that’s expecting to go right after the likes of the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 and Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat. Rumors currently are suggesting that this tarted up Mustang will eclipse the 800 horsepower mark.

It seems a bit silly, in all honesty, but anything’s possible as the pressure is on in the muscle car world.

That said, it seems as though these are the very first pictures showing the developmental testing of this potential beast. While it is still heavily camouflaged up front, it’s clear to my eyes that this Mustang is not even close to the others. Its large front grille appears to be completely lacking any protection and its lower front valence has a lot of room to breathe. It reminds me of the original Shelby Cobra that sucked in as much air as possible to keep its engine cool.

In addition to this, it’s quite easy to notice a whole lot of other work going on here. Obviously it has a massive wheel and tire setup, a more purposeful stance and a large rear wing to try to keep it planted.

It wouldn't surprise me if the GT500 ushered in the 2018 Mustang's styling refresh that would then migrate down the line.

The next major styling change for the Mustang is in 2021 and NOT 2018.

Incorrect. 2021 is the next full model change. 2018 is scheduled for a mild facelift.

Gee....doesn't that look a lot like a Mustang?! Ford really knows how to camouflage its secret cars.
