CONFIRMED + TEASED: Some Ford GT Applicants Get Good News AND There’s A Hint Of MORE To Come…
There’s something special about the Ford GT. When the revival car was introduced in the 2000s, it created quite a stir for a variety of reasons.

It was beautiful. It had excellent performance. It also was a train wreck when it came to reliability.

And now there’s an all-new Ford GT ready to take to the streets. Its looks are far more extreme than any other effort we’ve previously seen and, in addition, it is going to be extremely limited and extremely pricey.

500 units are to be built over the course of two years. According to Ford’s EVP of Product Development and Chief Technical Officer (CTO), the letters went out to the lucky recipients. But here’s where things get interesting. Ford knows there’s 6,000 interested parties and according to Raj Nair the company is working on a plan to make deserving applicants happy.

Does that mean MORE Ford GTs?

Does that mean something else?

What say you, Spies? What do YOU think Ford is up to?

They'll each get a free copy of Forza Motorsport 6, the one with the Ford GT on the cover.

Ford is in a very difficult spot. They NEVER should have implied that 500 units was the total production which they obviously did. Some people opted in to get a GT as a collector car and if Ford makes more, collectors could easily sue Ford for loss of value.

I do NOT believe there are 6000 BUYERS, but if there are 1000 bona fide buyers then Ford needs to rake in those profits somehow.

I am sure the lawyers have been thinking the same. The next model will have to be a hardcore GT3 type offering so they can say it is different. Lexus did the same with the NBR version of the LFA. Pagani seems to keep coming up with just one more version of the Zonda. I suspect they will be insulated from any lawsuit.Time will tell. Happy that it is being made by Multimatic here in Markham Ontario.

The whole application process was a sham for the Ford GT. 6000 people who applied with no real chance of getting a vehicle - it was a total BS marketing play. The people who usually get Ford GTs got them again. Anyone who stretched didn't. The guys who got the Ford GTs will put them away in their collections, or parlay them to brokers per the super car usual.

I am not convinced that Leno, Deadmau5 or any of the other people awarded Ford GT are buying Explorers, F-150s etc. so the benefit to Ford will be minimal.

Ford GT is a shelved supercar.
