Volkswagen Going All Out And Targeting BMW 4 Series GranCoupe With Next Gen CC

Though Volkswagen has comfortably distanced itself from its volume roots to the point where many consider it to be a premium brand, VW has had trouble with convincing a sizeable quantity of buyers to part with high-end BMW and Audi money for anything larger or pricier than a Touareg. And it seems Vee-Dub is getting rather miffed with this too, as the latest reports we have indicate the firm from Wolfsburg is targeting the new CC against some seriously well-rounded competition.

I suppose the question is why? What does Audi exist for if VW is targeting BMW? Do they want 2 premium brands Audi AND VW? I think they have more money than sense...

I am guessing since the A7 has the closest shape to the 4 GranCoupe, but is more expensive, they are choosing to challenge the 4erGC with the VW that will likely be priced to compete. Still a bit of a strange strategy.

Outside the US, Audi already sells the A5 Sportback which challenges the 4GC. Actually, the 4GC was built in response to the A5 Sportback if my memory serves me correctly.

I believe the A5 Sportback will also be coming to the US.

I don't know that guy named "Many" - but he sure does get involved in some really stupid things. VW is not in the same league as BMW - and not even in the same league with Audi- which is their second tier premium. VW has targeted mnay expensive cars in the Past - and failed (THe Phaeton for instance)= there must come a time when VW admits is mass market entry level roots - because it will be centuries before people would accept otherwise
