Ford To DOUBLE GT Supercar Production To Better Meet Demand

Ford Motor Co. is officially extending production of its GT supercar for two additional years. The initial run included 500 GTs, with 250 being built a year at a facility in Markham, Ontario.

Ford said it received 6,506 completed applications for the first 500. The car is expected to be priced around $400,000.

Acceptance, but more commonly rejection, letters for the first round of GTs started popping up in late July.

Kudos to Ford on this one! Definitely noteworthy. I wonder how it drives (civilized like a McLaren, or more "spirited").

Going on my morning run yesterday, I started to hear this rumble from down the street, Sure enough, it was a 2006 GT. Car still looks great a decade later.

Can't wait to see these on the road, although probably less often. Good for Ford to realize all of the fixed cost design and engineering is done, and now can double output based on demand,

The one thing I was not completely happy to see was who gets these. Many go to owners of the last version. That is good. But a good percentage go to celebrities and social media bloggers. I get this is good PR for Ford, but a car like this should go to enthusiasts and die hards.

ive never wanted any ford as badly as this one my entire life. its just so damn perfect looking !
