Notice how it's coming with a hybrid version-- HYBRID, NOT HYDROGEN. BMW fans have scoffed at hybrid since the beginning. I'm sure it's the world's best technology now that a BMW is going to have it.

I've never thought hybrid was that amazing, and even if the Q7 comes out with one, I still won't. Honda/Toyota- nice effort, though.

I love how some Germaniacs (those who are sheeplike in their love for certain, if not all German brands) say Toyota/Lexus copy and that's all they are good for (reverse engineering), and then, on the flipside of the coin, BMW does the same!

BMW's flagship is copying Lexus' flagship model line? BMW is offering hybrid? NO WAY!!!

This is hilarious! Oh yea, and German cars are looking more Japanese by the minute! What happened to the powerful yet elegant look of previous Bimmers? Now it's all POKEMON! I think I can see Pikachu if I look at the 5-series at a certain angle..

The Japanese should be the ones to copy from if you want to copy. The reason why - they are the only ones who know how to make a profit right now.

What does this have to do with ANYTHING? Why do you have to always bring Audi up?

Maybe it was because someone by the name of "mbrules" actually didn't say the Mercedes was the best-looking, and told the truth, that the A8 is for those with exquisite taste? I love the S-Class, too, and I wonder why it wasn't on mbrules's list, but that was just a stupid comment.

Hybrid technology sux. We are talking about performance cars, not economy cars. Gas-electric drivetrain does not add performance, it adds compromise. We don't know for sure if BMW will offer hybrid drivetrains, if they do it will be a mistake. I'd much rather have them concentrate on fuel cells, hydrogen combustion and better diesels.

Too bad they didn't scrap it and start over. Auto design is in such an odd place right now it seems to be all about details and jewelry and not about scuplture and simplicity. The 3-Series coupe looks to be the finest example so far. It doesn't look tacky. I saw a brand new Z4 rolling next to me and it looked like a half-eaten chocolate bon bon left out in the sun too long...

HYUNDAI (Mercedes) S Class

You see, what Hyundai do is try to invision what the next Mercedes will look like because they have no long line of cars to design from and then they simply copy, copy, copy until it makes me want to puke!

When a carmaker produces an execeptional car with new technology which is fonctional,safe and useful, no matter that others try to do the same. I wont say that BMW is copying LEXUS but using the LEXUS technology. The same when LEXUS uses a new technology from others. It's not copying. Why reinvent the wheel when someone has made it before? It would be good if german fanatic guys stop to talk about copying now!

Does the article mean they're ditching flame surfacing? If so, that's great news for lots of eyeballs. BMWs were so much more striking 5 years ago. It would be great news to hear BMW is reclaiming that stronger Teutonic look.

The mother of all BMW's shes looking good... looks to me like there putting that shoulder line on the 3 series down here side... making a more pleasent and purposeful front end and the rear end is obviously heavily camo because i suspect a big difference... All is looking good at BMW again not that it wasnt as sales would say but i never liked the 5 series with the m sport pack until they made the M5 one cause i loooooooove that....

I did have Mercedes S Class at no. 3 on my list. But I prefer to call it a Hyundai S Class as the design inspiration no doubt came from Hyundai.

Wow, a BMW fan would never say a bad word about any BMW. They're too egotistical.

But this makes me look at Mercedes fans a whole different way.

And I love the S-Class! It would be too hard to choose between that and an A8L...

The fact that yesterday a brand new S-Class was immobile in the middle of rush hour traffic on my way back from university towards home, and STILL immobile in the middle of rush traffic one hour later after I saw it on my way to the store after dinner in that same very spot is reason enough for you to reconsider. Nice run-on of a sentence there...

Anyways, I really love the S 550, but too bad they haven't fixed their reliability issues. I wonder if the same problems exist in the new CL (gorgeously gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous car). I am sure the A8's have a better record, no?

A brand new $90,000 USD car and the owner has to be standing in front of it cellphone in hand with a depressed look on his face while Corollas are whizzing by (mine :P ) at infinite speeds compared to him. Who wants a $90,000 heartache? It may be a nice car, but it is like attaching yourself to a timebomb!

It is very sad to see Mercedes, once the greatest brand in the Automotive world, going down the toilet. The designs are getting worse because there are too many models, the reliability - once best in the business- is shocking see Mike G's post above. Mercedes has prostituted itself. It now sells cheap cars like the A Class, the B Class, the Vito & the Viano vans as passenger vehicles, where is the luxury, where is the exclusivity.

I think the new 7-Series is going to be okay. I dont think they should have it smaller because people pay that money to get a big luxury saloon.

What good is a spy shot when you can't tell what the car looks like? It's a case where a few dozen words are as good as a picture :-(
