Fiat To Capitalize On BRZ And GT86 Lack Of Power With High Performance 124 Coupe

A Fiat 124 Coupé is understood to be under development and could be revealed as soon as next year.

The fixed-head car would likely be a higher-performance spin-off from the Fiat 124 Spider, as the firm looks to capitalise on the sales and marketing success of that car in bringing in new customers to the brand and emphasising Fiat’s wider sporty credentials.

Until it breaks down 10 days after purchase.

Remember - this is based on the Mazda - so it is likely to be far more reliable than most other FCA vehicles.

Well the side profile certainly looks like a GT86/BRZ though with a slight lengthened front

The 1.4 turbo Multiair engine is dead reliable. I owned an Abarth for 2 years and it never ever let me down even with performance mods. Saying this here is my prediction. By tomorrow or the next day either somebody from FCA or Marchionne will flatly deny that there is a 124 Coupe coming out. Too bad as it would be good competition for the Toyobaru twins.

They need to borrow the 2.5 from Mazda as the base engine and a 2.5T as the up model.

Very promising, but it needs over 200 HP to get beyond poser status

The wheezing 1.4T Multiair is a horrid engine that is barely acceptable in the 500 Abarth.

Darringer-I owned an Abarth for 2 years and you are dead wrong. It's a great engine that can be easily modified to get HP over 200. Wheezing? Your nuts! This is a great sounding engine! In this case you don't know what your talking about.

"You're" not "your"
The 500 is tiny so of course it's peppy there, but put it in anything heavier and it's a wheezer
It's a peaky engine...not even remotely linear.
When the power comes on it's sudden.
NVH is horrible

I thought that the BRZ had all the power it needed?
