Is Google Close To Throwing In The Towel On Self-Driving Cars?

The much-hyped self-driving Google Car may have reached the end of the road, with its technology boss Chris Urmson, who led the project for seven years, resigning at the beginning of August.

The departure comes amid a move from Google to team up with the automotive industry, rather than challenge it, in the race for autonomy.

According to a note sent out by auto analysts at investment bank Evercore ISI, the Google car project was clearly in trouble. “The Google driverless project is likely not as advanced as many believe,” it said.

I agree 100%. The world does not need more manufacturers, but technological advancements licensed to the auto industry is pure profit waiting to happen.

WHO REALLY CARES HERE?

This site is basically a forum for high powered cars - with the occasional expensive Suv stuck in. Anyone who would buy one of them to have it drive itself would not be a regular here. In fact - it is unlikely that anyone here would even spend the money to have those features on their car - in place of more horsepower. And GOOGLE has NO experience in actually making cars to begin with - may as well buy a used Hudson and put a small block in it yourself.

In fact - I would even bet that most drivers who come here can even parallel park their own car too.
