Labor Board Orders VW To Bargain With UAW Skilled Workers

Volkswagen has been ordered by the National Labor Relations Board to begin bargaining with skilled-trades workers represented by the UAW at its Chattanooga plant.

The NLRB said in a unanimous Aug. 26 order -- released Wednesday -- that VW must bargain with UAW Local 42 as the “exclusive collective-bargaining representative” of skilled-trades workers at the factory.

Skilled-trades workers voted 104-48 in December to join the UAW, a rare victory for the union in the South.

Here it comes. VW will shutter Chattanooga and cause massive unemployment in its wake.

This is their karma biting their asses. They WANTED to the the UAW's beeotch and now they are about to be the UAW's prison buddy.

VW deserves this in spades.

Not exactly Hillary but after spending 3 1/2 years in Germany (military) and 3 years in Czech Republic and of cours a most of my time in the US in a number of states, I see a lot of good things with the way many of the European countries do things. They are not perfect either but I think we can certainly learn from others what actually works and what does not. We had a good run after WW II as we were the only super power largely untouched in the homeland. Also I agree with some of Trumps positions such as our entanglement in the Mideast and global trade needing re-evaluation. However I can't support anyone who clearly has little knowledge of how our military works, basic understanding of things like NATO and yet another tax plan that will explode the deficit as Reagans did, as Bush's did. It is essentially the same thing again.

So I suppose you blame the nearly 11T Obutt gave us on Reagan and Bush? You're just ignorant. T has met deadlines and budgets and made payrolls. Mrs. C has done nothing except line her pockets and lie.

Well here is a nice link for your entertainment -> http://www.davemanuel.com/history-of-deficits-and-surpluses-in-the-united-states.php
Shows the annual deficit from the 1700s to today. Note the dramatic increase under Reagan and how we went from a nice surplus under Clinton to 1.5T for Bush's last budget. Note how the annual deficit has been dropping each year under Obama. Just the facts. Also FYI I have my own business and meet payroll etc... Anyways this is a car board, I have a passion for cars from any country. Agreed with your pick of the Volvo in another thread so we have that passion in common! Take care -Rick

No need to look at a "deficit" graph it's the debt that will undermine the nation. Reagan was all for a balanced budget but not Tip O'Neil or the Dems. To get what he wanted he had to give and we got deficits but we also got increased revenue. BTW: deficit spending with increased national debt is Keynesian economics a favorite of Democrats and liberals. Still Reagan accomplished much w the spending that brought down the USSR tho you might credit Gorby? He also unleashed decades long economic growth, it's a fact. One can find anything on line to support an argument. But, I did serve in the rated ministration in the 80s. Folks can point to Reagans specific policies that accomplished the downfall of USSR and economic growth. No one however can point to anything that Bill Clinton did or any of his specific policies that cause any growth in the 90s. That's because he didn't have anything. Everything he signed was forced on him by The Republicans in Congress and Newt Gingrich. Recall Bubba lost Congress for the Dems for the first time in 40 hrs. The smartest thing Bubba ever did was abandon his own liberal agenda and embrace what Newt and the Republicans implemented under the contract with America. You point out Obama but the rate of deficit spending may have gone down a bit but the debt has doubled and that is simply unquestionable. In your own personal finances I am sure that you would never do this, leadership is about doing something. The national debt simply must be dealt with or the nation will fall into the hands of its creditors. I'm quite sure that Mrs Clinton could not care less about national debt as she lines her pockets selling access and favors. If she wins the "for rent" sign will go back up in the Lincoln bedroom just like it was in the 90s. We do agree however, the Volvo XC 90 is very sweet!

We don't disagree on the national debt, just disagree on getting there, other than the fact that every respected economist (the one who have been right in the past) say Ttump's tax plan will re-ignite annual deficits. I voted for Reagan and he did some good things, certainly the Cold War was major, but also sometimes lost was his move to let states handling things instead of the Feds. However the deficit was not handled well, the way the government works is that the executive branch submits budgets to Congress which then tinkers with it but rarely totally changes it, they then pass it and the President signs it. Clinton shrank the federal government significantly (smallest since WW II) and raised taxes - thus a balanced budget. Anyways I think we both want the US to be the best it can be and we are both car enthusiast. Appreciate the civil exchange on politics, seems to be a rarity these days!

Yes Val I want our nation to be great again, we agree on that for sure. Again, one can find economists that support Keynesian economics or Supply Side so there will always be something to support nearly any argument. Bill Clinton and his wife are 2 of the most despicable people ever they simply do not know how to tell the truth. He did nothing during his tenure that is worth remembering other than signing what was put in front of him then taking credit for it. Any economic growth in the 90's had zero to do with his proposals or budgets. One reason he lost the congress for the first time in 40 yrs was because he lied and campaigned on tax cuts then raised taxes spurring a revolt against the Democrats sweeping in Gingrich and the Repubs. I hope you and your family have a wonderful Labor Day, I really do!

This is why the nation is failing, the Govt needs to stop violating the liberty of free people. There is no way these people simply decided they wanted representation in an area where they have no experience w/unions. Before they had decent lives, then the VW plant came and improved them, they think this will suddenly transform their lives to Utopia? That's always the liberal way, Utopia that only ruins everything. There was some kind of deal making, manipulation, etc... to get these votes. Trump, defund and eliminate this Department, along with about 10 others... Then eliminate business taxes completely. The Treasury gets 11% of their revenue from business and doing away with Biz Taxes completely will vacuum industry to the USA. Taxes paid from newly employed people will more than make this up. The insanity just never ends does it...

Exactly! Get rid of the EPA, dept of education really everything except defense and maybe one or two others, the free market will take care of the rest.

Exactly, could not agree more with the above comments. We must continue to drive down wages to India/China levels. I want to see free unfettered capitalism. God forbid we have workers making crazy high wages like in Germany or one of those other socialist commie pinko countries!

Val - Unions are a cancer. I'm all for huge salaries for every American, but in a world economy we must ensure we have the economic engine to provide those jobs. Insinuating I'm not for Americans employees making strong money is ignorant and liberally biased. Unions have ruined American industry in the last 50 yrs there is no dispute. YES, they served a purpose but that was 100 yrs ago. Any Gubment agency that "makes laws" takes away my and your, representation, so yes, take every bit of authority from every single agency and restore law making to the Congress, where the Constitution places it. For the EPA to regulate an industry out of existence is not constitutional and every coal miner has been disenfranchised.

Actually the workers voted to join the union 104-48. Unions do need to evolve, look to places like Germany where they have a big stake in the company being well run and profitable. US unions definitely got out of control and corrupted, hopefully they will evolve along with management. US mange net typically makes much higher salaries than their counterparts in other parts of the world and they could learn to be a bit more responsible as well.

Matt- If you sent YOUR resume to Donald Trump with the request to be given the job of CEO of one of his buildings - without Real Estate and Hospitality experience - he would laugh at you and suggest a more entry level position. The POTUS is not an entry level position - and experience at an elected political position at least state wide (Or maybe a few of the largest cities) might be enough preparation - Donald Trump has nothing - and qualifies for consideration for an entry level political position - maybe Dog Catcher - not POTUS.

@TomM you're an old, bitter bigot who is totally out of touch with reality.

The idiocy of your position is that you dismiss a man with a massive amount of business understanding as being unfit to serve as President, but a woman who has committed many treasonous acts, conspired to destroy the Sanders campaign, and who has serious health issues is the one to go with.

You're such an incontrovertible fool.
