SPY PHOTOS: Caught! Corvette Blue Devil/Stingray

This might look like an ‘ordinary’ Z06 with a funky hood scoop, but the crack shooters from Brenda Priddy’s crew, with with their long lenses and tuned ears, tell us this Corvette is anything but ordinary.

Wow!!! Finally a car from the U.S. that can take on the Ferrari Enzo FXX and Bugatti Veyron and McLaren F1 LM.

If the information is correct then that car will be one fast car. It will be able to contend in straight line performance with the European supercars. However, we'll see how GM plants that car to to the ground with that power. Will it slide too much? will it have the balance needed to have the driving dynamics of the Euro's? We'll see.

However, it will never have the presense of a Ferrari, Lambo, Porsche, or anything to that grade. Don't get me wrong, The vette is one sexy beast but as for passion, I feel it is lacking some. It's a stunning car but doesn't have that appeal to it in terms of quality. Nevertheless, the performance is superb. No doubt about it.. Handling it will not top a Euro. That's my two cents.

You forgot:
Will it have that awful GM interior?... :)

The standard Z06 is one of the fastest production cars on Germany's Nurburgring which is a road course (you seem uninformed). To your surprise it's even faster then it's italian counterparts. You should not spread misinformation. Thanks

Have you driven a Corvette lately? Based on that comment the answer is obvious.

Speedracer, it's not a conspiracy. All the auto manufacturers use professional drivers on the ring (moron)
Don't be a euro not hugger, give respect where it's dure. I see Z06's 1st hand competing with turbo porches, ferraris, vipers, aston martins all the time at pocono and watkins glen. They have no problem keeping up or overtaking them.

To SpeedRacer:
American engines have advantages.Take a look at the F430 gas consumption compared to a Z06 for example.I'll just tell you that the base price for a vette C6 would probably be as much a Z06 if it had a European style engine.
I agree with you about the suspension and interior they definetly need to change to ever compete with the European performance cars.

To all:
Despite what you think the vette C6 has got good reviews about it's quality in Europe(I live in Europe) and everybody has praised it for its affordability(keep in mind it costs about 120000 dollars and the F430 costs about 270000)

NOTE:To add to what njshift said the Z06 clocked a better time in Nurburgring than the Lambo Murcielago which has 90 horsepower more if I remember correctly.

Let it be known that SpeedRacer who visits Europe six times a year is more knowlegeable about European tastes than those that live there.

For someone whose screen name is from a cartoon, why would you use a discriptive term like "cartoonlike" in a negative way?

You might prefer a Ferrari, but you must concede that the Corvette is a more affordable, and likely a more reliable, choice.

I forgot I can't make a typo. Therefore I know nothing.

Too bad this site has no real enthusiasts that appreciate a car for it's potential.

Speedracer......you're highly uninformed and rather rude. Should Americans come to the conclusion that all Europeans have ugly teeth or shower once a week? You've already got the rude stereotype down to a science.

The Z06 shouldn't be compared to supercars because of the price.......point being it's the fastest car you can buy for the money, hands down. Doesn't mean I like it or that I would buy one, but you have to give credit where credit is due.

I have bought every issue of a magazine that said something about the corvette and I have seen only good reviews. The last one I saw was from topgear and besides the issues we all know the corvette has the editor had only good words to describe it.

After the blue devil or SS or Sting Ray, there will be an ultimate Corvette edition called the "Lighting McQueen" version.

And according to the movie "CARS", our Corvette beat out the blue Porsche. So much for a Porshce and all those 911 fans out there!

I want to go on record right now and thank GM for continuing development of the Corvette. With all of the problems facing the company right now, they continue to go for it and I think that should be recognized, so my hat's off to them. There must still be some true "car guys" over there somewhere.

The Z06 really is that good of a car.
It's usually ligher than its opponents and faster on a track. I also eats less fuel.
However 7 litres of displacement means taxes.
But it really it that beasting, sometimes to the point of humilitaing Ferraris and Porsches.

Some of you euro fanatics (you know who you are) are so disillusioned about the true automotive world around you that your comments do not warrant any response whatsoever. However, simply because of the annoyance with a couple posters here, I thought it would be fitting to link another great debate on this topic elsewhere in this forum:

http://www.autospies.com/news/Whats-wrong-with-American-cars-7142/

Corvette in general and Z06 in particular have much more to offer that the limited minds of *some* of the posters in this thread begin to realize. For the others that can give credit of where its due, kudos on the display of balance and maturity.

Z06 is a true supercar (especially any Blue Devil version) that more than holds its own in performance which is what a supercar is supposed to do. This "cannot perform on curves" thing is a total red-herring. Despite all its performance ability, the car does not even suffer a gas-guzzler's tax. How many other cars in its performance sector could even begin to think about that?

This trusted German source has no choice but to state the facts on Z06 versus some of the top Euro cars - specifically, the 977 TT.
