Could The Shelby GT350 Now Be A Worthy Competitor To The BMW M4?
Ford went above and beyond with this one. Anything less would be unacceptable. The 2016 Mustang Shelby GT350 is more than just a track-tuned muscle car, as we learned in our new video review. It also pushes Ford into a new realm of performance meets everyday drivability, an art mastered long ago by BMW M. With its naturally aspirated 5.2-liter V8 with a flat-plane crankshaft, the Mustang Shelby GT350 has a total of 526 hp and 429 lb-ft of torque. There’s only one gearbox option, a six-speed manual.

Not sure many M4 buyers will consider this. Personally, I love it, this car is one of the best deals out there when talking about performance. I have never cared for the latest muscle cars until this came out. You can get one for in the low $50s, not sure you can get an M4 for less than $70K.

You're right. Not many buyers will cross shop a Mustang and an M4, but dynamically the Mustang GT VS a 4 Series is a toss up as would be an M4 VW ShelbyGT350. Where the Mustang wins hands down in both cases is sound, styling, price, and reliability.

Having owned an M3 and an M5 as well as a 70 Z/28 and 70 Vette I would certainly consider them both. I haven't driven either yet and kind of want a Cayman S as my next car (which I did test drive & loved it), however once I get serious I will certainly drive all of them. The Mustang has had some super reviews and not just by US car magazines/journalists.

Thought I saw a headline somewhere that stated Mustang now top selling sports car (sic) in Germany.

I just got one, I had a M4 just couldnt stand the turbo 6 compared to e92 V8. Paid MSRP too. Hell of a car.
