TEASED! First Look At The All-New, Land Rover Discovery — Initial Thoughts?
The Land Rover Discovery has existed for quite some time although you wouldn’t know it. That’s because the folks at Jaguar Land Rover have decided to give it a different name. Dubbed the LR4 it is pretty much the definition of irrelevant.

While the company’s Evoque, Range Rover Sport and Range Rover have been on fire from a sales perspective, their sibling has been overlooked. We think that may change.

That’s because Land Rover has distributed an image of the all-new Discovery. Our British friends gave us a bit of transparency, too. It will officially be a seven-seat vehicle for the marque. Given that the Discovery Sport and Range Rover Sport’s third rows are laughable — at best — this is welcome news as we're hoping this will be a proper three-row SUV.

Initial spy shots that have captured the Discovery during testing in recent months depict a rather large vehicle though truth be told its quite narrow and tall. This shouldn’t come as a surprise to folks who have been admirers of the Discovery for the past 20 or so years.

Sales will begin in the U.S. market mid 2017. Its world premiere will take place at this year’s 2016 Paris Motor Show, which happens on September 28.

Looks like the discovery sport. They really should have stuck to a more rugged look for the Land Rover line and had Range Rover line be the more trendy styled and luxurious line.

RR/LR...can look as tough as it wants....but still unreliable as hell! I wouldn't drive it any furhter than 15milles from the dealership!

And that is the on-going problem with Jaguar and Land Rover Range Rover. While reliability has improved it still is way below the Germans which are below Lexus and Genesis too.

@MDarringer please stop putting Genesis and Lexus together in the same sentences. Lexus is a established brand that has proven itself, depending on who you talk to it might be Tier 1 luxury. Genesis by no means its on the same league, they might be stealing Lexus strategy but they don't have the reliability, quality or prestige of a Lexus. You are the only person on this board selling that Kool Aid. genesis is just like VW wanting to be considered a luxury brand. That is FACT.

Respectfully disagree. My personal experience has been quite good. My wife bought an Evoque 2 years ago, 33k miles ago. Sunglasses holder was the only issue. A friend has a RR sport for 18 months, not sure on the miles. No issues I know of. On the other hand we had a Honda Accord years ago and it was nothing but problems, CV joints/covers, overheating, seat belt retractors etc... The German cars I have owned all stone cold reliable. American cars - hard to say since 2 out of 4 were older muscle cars and one was a well used Jeep. The one new one a 2000 Dodge Durango was really good other than an occasional check engine light due to the gas cap not being tightened correctly and you could not reset it except at the dealer.. However the engine let go at 70k miles while I was overseas and a friend was driving it.

well you and your buddies lucked out. I would go with the statistics instead of trying my luck. But regardless, wealthy clients will still buy LR anyway.
