Authorities Investigating Another Fatal Model S Crash To Determine If Autopilot Was A Factor

A Tesla driver crashed his electric vehicle into a tree in the Netherlands on Wednesday morning, dying as a result of the crash. It’s unclear at this time what led to this fatal incident involving a Tesla vehicle.

Car accidents are still fairly frequent, unfortunately, but the focus on Tesla crashes is at an all time high due in part to the fact that the car comes with a limited self-driving Autopilot feature that’s been criticized by some. In early May, a fatal Tesla accident killed a Florida man who was using the Autopilot feature at the time of the incident.

Musk needs to take notes from an industry Titan like Benz, whom outsells Tesla nearly 5 times globally when it comes to vehicles equipped with drivers assistance, yet no fatalities reported because benz knows Humans will take a mile if you give them an inch and literally has their cars force the driver to take the wheel and stay attentive at certain intervals and speed.

Its human nature for us to push the envelope of technology, but its tesla's responsibility to make sure that envelope can only be pushed so far by owners

And out come the fawning Tesla fan tools to say Tesla is innocent (see HenryN)

when you resort to calling people "tools," you have effectively lost the argument. Tsk tsk.

Link to crash site below. No word on Autopilot involvement at this point - so why jump the gun ?

BobM: the more complete quote from the article shows who uses half-truth:

>>>
The motor firm said the car's logs showed that autopilot was not engaged at any point in the man's journey.

Tesla, which sent representatives to the crash scene, said the logged speed of 96mph was consistent with the damage sustained from hitting the tree.

The California-based company said: "We are working with the authorities to establish the facts of the incident and offer our full cooperation."

Even without the latest news, critical minds would come up with a conclusion that AP was not in use due to excessive speed involved. The local people near the crash site reported that speed limit was 80kph (roughly 50mph). The crash with that much damage would be caused by much higher terminal speed (FYI, AP would automatically disengage at around 10mph above speed limit).

But for you and your comrades, critical thinking is not something I would expect.
