Baby GL-class Due From Mercedes

This is a direct competitor to the X3. Just make it look like the GL and price it below the X3 and its a winner.

Mercedes has a prolific mix of products- more models than almost any automaker.

I think that is one of the greatest things about Mercedes, they basically have a car class to cover any type of car a person would want. I am still impressed that they sell a large coupe. So many people bailed from that years ago and I miss it. They are catering to a diverse niche (as odd as that sounds)

I can't underdstand who needs these huge SUVs!?!

This is a SMALL SUV. BTW, no equally equipped MB will ever be cheaper than the equivalent BMW.

So i guess the MLK is off for now then?

How many models does Mercedes really need?

i think the mlk is the same thing as the glk, just the name is still unconfirmed.

To have Mercedes produce so many models and still be not be bankrupt is truly amazing. That shows they are doing things right in some sectors of their business. Perhaps they aren't doing as bad as we think.

Now having that sad, I'm a huge Merc fan but I am beginning to get think they have too many models. What happened to it being more exlusive. Well, I guess they still are but the more low end Mercedes are bought by average joe's with a decent job. No longer does it take a millionaire to own a Benz.

I also don't understand why they have a GL, GLK is it now? and the ML. No point. I almost guarantee they will slap on an AMG model as well. GLK AMG 63 or 55 :-)

A couple of months ago the German car magazine Autobild (Huckfeldt) had photos of what the GLK will look like. The Autobild photos showed it looking like the Subaru Forester. Which means that Mercedes will continue to copy Asian carmakers, just look at the latest S Class it looks like a Hyundai. The GLK is going to be one ugly BOX.

The GL has an uninspired design, just like the big ML that it is. The only Mercedes SUV that I even found remotely attractive was the G500/G55, for the sake of being different. The newer ones are too generic.

And I'm pretty sure the Audi Q5 is coming out first.

Mercedes is not a luxury car in my opinion, In Denmark where i live, we have a lot of vans driving around MB vans used by plumbers, painters and so on, cars you problably dont get in the US. Suddenly nothing that connect the MB with luxury.

A smaller GL would be welcome. The current GL is a few inches too tall for some garage doors in older condos. I do not like the firm seats in the current GL. I wish Mercedes would adopt the S-Class seats (with their fully independent seat cushion adjustment) across the board. Contrary to some opinions expressed here, I do like the GL style over that of the ML however.

Mercedes, you've done enough. I think the ML and G-Class is enough. The GL pushed it, and releasing more stuff is going to make it more crowded. How many SUV's do you want DaimlerChrysler!

This is what was called the MLK, then the X-Class now the GLK? I think it's a valid market entry for MB in order to compete with the X3. The X3 is overpriced and has apparently had some build quality/styling issues which have led to a raft of changes.

The Q3 and 5 will be an interesting proposition as the Q7 is truly awful vis-a-vis the competition (ML, GL, RRSport, RR)

The other option, of course, is the new LR Freelander -which has some, er, intersting styling...it looks just like the last Freelander!
