Mercedes-Benz's August 2016 Global Sales Surge 11.8% With YTD Up 11.7% On Soaring Chinese Demand
Mercedes-Benz delivered more than 156,000 vehicles to customers in August – an increase of 11.8%. The main contribution towards this increase came from the strong rise in unit sales of SUVs of approximately 40%. Mercedes-Benz was able to surpass its strongest August to date in the previous year due to double-digit growth in the Asia-Pacific region and in the domestic market. Two sales milestones were also passed last month: More than four million SUVs and 15,000 Mercedes-Maybach S-Class vehicles have been sold since their market launches.

Stuttgart – This August, 156,246 Mercedes-Benz vehicles were handed over to customers worldwide (+11.8%). Mercedes-Benz has been setting new records month by month for three and a half years in a row. In the period of January to August, deliveries increased by 11.7% to 1,326,635 units – more than ever before in the first eight months of a year.

Hands down best overall line up out, somehow they have managed to maintain their high end image while embracing lower market clientele by simultaneously releasing vehicles at both ends of the spectrum...

For instance upon release of the CLA, the S Class was hot on its heels, GLA pre-empted a facelifted GLE and all new GLE coupe, they've got a serious strategy going and I do not see their momentum slowing down anytime soon.

BTW, has anyone noticed that Mercedes has also managed to quietly eat up 40% of the commercial truck market in North America i.e Vans, Buses, and soon Semis...

Kudos

Mercedes is simply the best in the segment. Audi and BMW are recycling old styling. Jaguar is cursed by Callum's dementia-driven dullness. At Lexus, only the LC is a home run. Infiniti...who? Cadillac dull.

Mercedes seems to be the only luxury brand that "gets it". They "get" what luxury car buyers are shopping for. They "get" how to distinguish their lower trims from their higher, sportier trims (i.e., C300 vs C43 AMG). They "get" how to not sabotage one model for another (i.e., CLA is a niche product and doesn't encroach on the C, same with the GLA vs GLC). They "get" how important it is to dominate the upper tier of the segment in order to not diminish the models at the lower tier of the segment. The "get" that carryover styling is almost insulting to buyers who are being sold an "all-new" model. They "get" that trendy styling is not the making of a Tier 1 brand. They "get" that sustained, consistent, and frequent new-model or refreshed models is a vital key to maintaining momentum. They. Just. Get. It.
