CAR WARS! DRIVEN: When TWO 500+ Horsepower Sedans Go Head-To-Head — Mercedes-AMG C63 S vs. Alfa Romeo Giulia
In the world of high-performance sport sedans, it's hard to get much better than the likes of the Mercedes-AMG C63 S. It could have to do with the fact it is one of the only "entry level" luxury sedans with a Steroid-infused sibling.

That is until the Alfa Romeo Giulia came about. Now with the Quadrifoglio variant equipped with over 500 galloping ponies, it's clear that Mercedes-AMG has a challenger on its hands.

But, is it better? Only one way to know with certainty. That includes Autocar taking out both models for some back-to-back testing.

I don't want to spill the beans as there are very particular misgivings about both rides; however, I would suggest you take a look at the end result, displayed below. Please note, these are merely here to whet your appetite.

...Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio - Handling lives up to the hype, but the engine, ride, steering and cabin quality aren’t quite on the AMG’s level. Typically alluring and likeable, though...

The C63 AMG S is an absolute lustful car. I love its understated, elegant, yet aggressive styling. Inside and out, it looks like it costs twice as much as the Alfa (and M3, for that matter). The Alfa is an amazing car, too, and I would probably choose it over an M3, with the risk of reliability concerns that are greater than the BMW.
Without a doubt, these two are my top choices in this segment.

The Mercedes is definitely the one to beat. I'd lease a Giulia and in fact I have several friends who intend to do just that, but I would never buy one. I don't find the Giulia especially attractive, but at least it isn't dull and stale looking like the 3 Series, A4, ATS, or XE. Thankfully it is not garish like an IS.
