The Volkswagen Golf R400 is dead, though it was still officially ambiguous as to whether or not it’s 395-
horsepower, 2.0-liter motor would live on in something else. But now it’s official. That’s dead too.

VW needs real cars that deliver real quality and durability at prices real people can afford and then it needs to treat those real people like Porsche customers.

A 400hp Golf is the LAST thing they need.

Agreed with MDarringer & carsnyc. Make VW "the peoples' car" -- reliable, solid value, economically priced, with fewer defects, repairs, and reasonable maintenance and repair costs.

I think Hyundai and Kia have stepped into these shoes, or working diligently to fill them.

Becoming the People's Car company is the way back to honor. VW needs to abandon ALL near-premium and premium aspirations and be the obvious choice for real people as it once was.
