PARIS MOTOR SHOW: 2017 Land Rover Discovery Images Leak Out Ahead Of Official Debut

Images of the 2017 Land Rover Discovery have been accidentally published on the company’s Australian website hours before it is officially revealed.

The images, which appear to have come from a brochure, show the car tackling sand dunes and desert tracks, and reveal its undisguised exterior for the first time.

The design of the car’s LED day running lights can be seen, as can the look of the car’s rear LED units.

Looks like a Ford Explorer!

Agreed but that's not necessarily LR’s fault as lower tier cars continue to flagrantly copy what premium is doing. I foresee the lines getting even blurrier as more equipment becomes standard in every car, and premium continues to downsize with smaller engines. Four-cylinder Mercedes and Volvo SUVs are going to be the end of me.

Ford owned Land Rover and developed its long range plans. They knew the design trend and for some time have executed a family resemblance Explorer to Range Rover likely hatched while they owned it. Perhaps RR needs to develop its own design language like it's sibling Jag has done under Tata ownership.

I hope to heaven that Land Rover Range Rover does not develop its own design language as Jaguar did. Aside from the F Type, the Jaguar line is either ugly (XJ) or Camry dull looking (everything else). This design has a lot of awkwardness in it. I'm no fan of the Volvo XC90, but why not buy it instead of this?

The only customers this new Discovery will inspire are current Range Rover customers, LR is blurring the lines and price between "utility" and Luxury, the disco was always a boxy, posh utility vehicle, now it looks like every other SUV in the stable of Land Rover Range Rover and Ford... so what is the incentive to pay a huge premium to drive this over a cheaper Ford.. the Utility is gone from this expensive truck... even if it can go off road with the best of them.. Tata had the ability to build anything, this is not a home run, it is a cannibalizing product for customers they already have in their Range Rovers.
