PARIS MOTOR SHOW: Audi Places BMW's 3-Series On Notice With Newly Redesigned 2017 A5 and S5 Sportback Models
The 2017 Audi A5 Sportback has made its world debut at the Paris motor show.
The new four-door model offers more cabin space than its coupé equivalent while sharing the same line-up of engines.
The cabin space of the new A5 Sportback is 17mm longer than the old car's. The more practical body shape offers passengers 11mm of extra shoulder space and rear knee room has grown by 24mm.
The Sportback’s boot space is up by 15 litres to 480 litres. With the rear seats down – they’re arranged in a 40/20/40 layout – luggage capacity grows to 1300 litres.

This car simply does not look new - it looks like so many other Audis - from so many years. BMW has the same problem. Even though Mercedes has used a similar design -one can clearly see the newer ones from the older ones. Audi and BMW need something to make the cars look new again.

A big Meh to their exterior styling department. Inoffensive, yes, but certainly not inspiring or beautiful.

Those fu*king stick-on tablet screens drive me nuts. WHY??? Build the goddamned things into the dash where they belong!

Or better yet leave them off completely.

My guess is that the built-in screens became an accessibility issue. The ones built into the dash forced the techs to dismantle the entire front dash and/or console to get to the screens. The "tacked-on" ones would be much easier to service and access.

Not too sure. The Driver console looks like a built in LCD. They could have done a better job with the center console.
Except for the front end, I think this car looks very good.

At least the Audi's console can be stowed away, unlike MB! Now that's an eye sore!

I don't believe that the screens are retractable on the A4/A5. They are on the Q7.

Did I fall asleep and wake up in the 1970's, when did the Chevy Vega hatchback become so popular that Audi & BMW think that we want one from them? Audi needs style, not more cargo hauling capacity... the BMW GT cars and now this Sportback AKA hatchback, is Disco coming back too? where am I, what century am I in... wake up to ugly, Chevy Vega for 3000% more cost.
