2017 Cadillac Eldorado

2017 Cadillac Eldorado
The Eldorado name has been in Cadillac’s portfolio for nearly 50 years but back in 2002 due to the sloping sales it was discontinued. While currently, Cadillac does have a coupe out there with the small ATS, it is not nearly as luxurious as the Eldorado would be which will mean problems when Ford will be releasing the Thunderbird. In order to compete with that car and also offer an option for their customers, rumors about a 2017 Cadillac Eldorado started to surface ever since they released the concept car with the same name.

Horrible! How do you go from the Escala to this?

I don't think this is real... especially with the "Cadillac 16"pics and the phony C.A.D pic. IMO Cadillac should make a CTS 2 door coupe but change the roof line and perhaps some body panels, to reflect a style reminiscent of the 70's personal coupes, think (Cutlass Supreme/Grand Prix), or even like the 67 Eldorado. There is nothing out there like that. The Mercedes Coupes are all too small w/zero back seat room and crazy expensive. The revised A5 is boring and the 4 Series, is ehh... The 6 Series, I think is dead and also too expensive. There is no question Cadillac should differentiate itself from the others with NAMES! The ATS should be the Calis, the CTS should be the Seville, a CTS Coupe the Eldorado. The CT-6 should reclaim Fleetwood and they should be proud of that name. Lincoln is using Continental and there were definitely some forgettable Continentals. The Escala concept should absolutely be produced and called the Escala which would add to the historic list of names. So you have some classic names and the next generation name on the flagship...

do not resurrect an automotive icon with a design that is dead on arrival... that is one ugly car-coupe... another case of design study getting killed with time... the last truly iconic Eldorado was in 1976... after that they all looked similar to this.. ergo the cancellation of the model. Just say NO!

There is not going to be any Eldorado. I have seen this site before and besides the bad, broken English it seems to be run by a couple of 14 year olds. Lots of laughable predictions.
The alpha numeric nomenclature works well for branding, especially for luxury cars sold globally where the "Eldorado" or 'Seville" name has no meaning.
The Contiental is mainly a North American market car. I know Lincoln has plans to be in China, but is currently a non-factor.

If however the Continental goes gangbusters in the USA and China, the American heritage factor could become lucrative in the USA and China. Give Europe the alphanumeric idiocy they so love, but names on Cadillacs IS the way to stand out from the alphabet soup.

DeNysschen is not about to change is mind about "names" on production vehicles - and it is also clear that he is not about actually producing "concept" vehicles either. However - DeNysschen did "hint" that the Top of the line car at Cadillac was NOT going to be a sedan too. I would expect that a coupe based on the CT6 would be something that would fill the bill.

@TomM It's also clear that De Nysschen may not be with Cadillac much longer. The there is the fact that he likes to dick things over and leave and that CT6 and the XT5 both landed with resounding thuds for sales. Alphabet soup is clearly NOT working for Cadillac.

Plus there has not been a concept shown this year - or for the last 50 - under the Eldorado name.
