Volkswagen Sales Weren't As Bad As You Would Think - Down 7.75% For The Month
Volkswagen of America, Inc. today reported sales of 24,112 units delivered in September 2016. In late September, both #PinkBeetle and the all-new Golf Alltrack, based on the SportWagen began to reach showrooms.

We also have to remember that in North America, VW unit sales were struggling and relatively modest to begin with. If you normally sell 10,000,000 cars and you lose 7%, that's 700,000 fewer cars. When your baseline is 10,000, then 7% is just 700 fewer cars.

Still, a 7% decline is not trivial. VW is going to have a tough battle rebuilding consumer trust and sales. It was a long-running challenge before Dieselgate, and it's far worse now.

I might have blogged this before but there will be plenty of books and case studies to work in groups at college about this debacle.

Personally I don't think VW sales were that bad considering most manufacturers sales dropped or had a very minor increase.

Two thoughts go through my mind...What are the size of the discounts keeping sales from free falling? Can we really trust the numbers as reported by VW? Just saying...
