Mazda is preparing an amazing comeback of its rotary engine with new RX-7.
Everyone thought that the Wankel engine was dead. This type of internal combustion engine has a few problems such as the Apex seals, a high oil consumption and really bad emissions. Because of that the only manufacturer that made one was Mazda which offered one in the RX-8 up until 2012 when it was discontinued for good. However, it seems that the engine is not dead and it might come back to life with the 2018 Mazda RX-7, the car everyone is waiting for.

Mazda builds reliable good looking cars but sales continue to head south. I have two theories: poor PR/media and weak dealership platform. Comments anybody?

Very reliable cars, I had a couple of RX7s back when. Very nice cars in which I would own OVER Toyota's bland (and American made) Camry, Corollas. I feel they aren't giving enough attention to the dealerships AND WHERE is at leas a 6 cylinder in their line-up. Even when the Mazada 6 was made here in the US, they had a 6 banger. Now that they've moved their building the 6 and Mazda 3 back to Japan, no 6 cylinder. Give an "option" to purchase a 6 cylinder in the sportier Mazada 6. That nice looking CX5 has ONLY 184 HP. Test drove one for the wife and she HATED the pickup power but loved the SUV. We didn't get it because of the HP. Personally - I NEVER buy a 4 cylinder engine: gas is cheap, the MPG difference is nominal and want the extra HP to get on/off the expressway. Tell to build a 6 banger please.
