Should MINI Go MAXI To Broaden Market Appeal?
Mini didn’t make too much noise at the 2016 Paris Motor Show, but it did debut a new model, the John Cooper Works Clubman. However, just because the brand isn’t going crazy with auto show reveals doesn’t mean it’s not got a lot going on. When the MINI was first revived by BMW, I thought it had lots of character, though pricey for what it was. Today, I look at MINI and feel they've lost their way. Sort of a 1-trick pony that forgot its trick.

I agree. Mini should hire Gordon Murray to develop an efficient flexible design and manufacturing process to develop multiple small Mini's to extremely personal tastes (sedan, coupe, convertible, SUV, pickup, roadster van, etc).

BMW created a problem by forcing Mini to stand alone. Mini should have been co-branded with BMW and that would have reduced the pressure for Mini to be a full-line brand.

That Union Jack glass roof sure looks cool as you speed outta the EU....

Mini should have improved reliability first and foremost. Ask any mechanic -these things are a HUGE PITA to work on and often require dismantling the whole front end body work to get at some of the more fun parts of the buried engine. Just like British teeth -these things are seriously flawed and problematic at best.

I'm no fan of VW, but why buy a Mini over a GTI. Then factor in the Fiesta and Focus STs and the reasoning behind buying a Mini Cooper S becomes ridiculous.
