2017 BMW 5-Series Interior Spied Ahead Of Official Debut

The interior of the 2017 BMW 5-Series has been spied with absolutely no camouflage ahead of the model's unveiling on October 13, thanks to Indian Autos Blog.

As expected, the cabin of the new 5-Series is almost identical to that of its bigger brother, the 7-Series. In fact, numerous parts appear to be exactly the same, a massive win for prospective buyers of the cheaper 5-Series.

Same old same old BMW dash style...time for a dramatic design change me thinks. Also, can you possibly put more controls on a steering wheel than this one.

BMW, in America, should consider selling the long wheel base 5-series that they sell in China. It could slot in price-wise a little more than the other 5-Series and a little less than the 7-series.

In my opinion, the 5-series has been the best-looking car in BMW's lineup. Its well-proportioned and handsome.

The new 7-series, on the other hand, is oddly-proportioned and has a bloated look to it.

Since BMW has just about thrown every other vehicle idea against the wall to see if it sticks, they should give this a shot.

U.S buyers have proven they do not want long-wheel base version of standard models. Chinese buyers are much more likely to be driven instead of driving their cars themselves so that is why they want long-wheel base versions of standard models.

The new 5-Series is just going to look like a smaller version of the new 7-Series. BMW showed us the new 5-Series will share the same hockey-stick piece along the sides just like the new 7-Series.

Like lipstick on a pig, just like they did with the 7 Series. Has BMW gotten lazy? Are they out of money? Seriously, what the heck? Adding brushed metal and chrome bits to a dated design does not make it better.

I can assure you this is NOT the new 5 Series Interior. This can only be a very early 5 series Prototype or a 7 series.

Not that it will be very different, but, the chrome surface of the center stack will not be like that at all.

Do you have any proof to support your claim? Also, why would BMW be showing a 5-Series prototype now when they have released two teaser commercials of the actual new 5-Series.

This interior is absolutely pathetic and continues BMW's tradition of creating interiors that can neither match Mercedes-Benz's interior materials quality and overall luxurious look nor can they match Audi's technology capabilities and sleek modern interior look.

If this is indeed the new 5-Series interior, BMW is in for a HUGE sales problem. The 5-Series sales were down a whopping 62% for September 2016 compared to September 2015 and are down 18% YTD.

The new E-Class looks great and Audi is going to go all out on the new A6.

"Audi is going to go all out on the new A6."

None of which made a lick of difference on the A4, or A5, or A8, or Q7, pretty much any other Audi that's been refreshed or completely redesigned recently, all of which lag way behind the big bad bullies at BMW and Benz. <Sad Face.> Here's a Kleenex for your tears of frustration and sadness.

I've worked at the G30 Project at the climatisation unit. I have no proof of that so you can either believe me or not...:) You only have to wait another 2 days to confirm.

It is the 7 not the 5.

Well, I actually wish the picture on this article was the real deal. Just like the 7 vs the S interior, it's missing the feeling of occasion that the E has. I'd even venture to say that this wouldn't be acceptable in the 3 Series.

Thanks for the link HoustonMidtown. Assuming that's the new 5, it looks handsome. Just not sure whether the evolutionary nature of the exterior design will allow BMW to fight back the engulfing MB tide though.

If HoustonMidtown's link is correct I don't like it. Looks like the E46 3 series with it's ungainly rounded edges.

BMW might as well just give up. This new 5-Series is just like the new 7-Series and we all know how well the new 7-Series is selling!

Yes, we do. Twice as well as the A8.

Like I said... no chromed surfaces on the center stack. Do you believe me now GermanNut?;)

Th interior above actually looks better than what BMW did on the new 5-Series. At least the interior above is consistent with the chrome. It's not bits and pieces of chrome mixed in with leather like the new 5-Series.
