Chinese Clone Damn Near Everything From The Macan But The Performance

Chinese car maker Zotye Auto has unveiled the production version of its controversial SR9, revealing a five-door SUV that closely resembles the Porsche Macan.

Set to go on sale in China on Wednesday at a price around £12,300, the Zotye SR9 will initially be sold with just one engine – a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol unit sourced from Mitsubishi developing 187bhp and 184lb ft of torque.  It drives through a standard five speed manual or optional six-speed dual clutch gearbox.

That's like saying that Chinese iPhone close is damn near identical to the iPhone 7 except the performance.

Last I heard, the Chinese knock-offs had poor fit and finish, they used cheap materials and components, and if you examined the product on anything more that a "passing glance" basis, it was a big disappointment... unless, of course, you're Chinese and you've never been up close and personal with the original.

Most people only see Porsche vehicles on the street or parked in a lot. I wouldn't say any of them has had the chance to actually closely "examine" final fit & finish.

It's crazy, but that knock-off would probably sell well in the US, even with the zippy 4-cyl engine only. In 2004-2005, the Chrysler 300C got huge amounts of urban interest b/c average folk was saying how much it looked like a Bentley - if you've ever seen a real Bentley from the last 10-15 yrs...it really didn't look anything like an Arnage. But everybody went crazy for it though.

Another reason why the Chinese will never been seen as a Tier 1 supplier of goods and will always come in second to everyone else. Shameful that even the Chinese government supports this 'steal your way to prosperity' mentality.

We owe trillions of dollars to a country that does not honor patents or
copyrights. Sounds like an insane government trade agreement to me.

And yet people plan to vote for Hillary rather than Trump...go figure.
