SPY SHOTS: 2008 BMW 135ti - spy shots
BMW is going to launch a new model, in order to compete with Volkswagen Golf models.

The 135ti will be powered by a 3.0-litre turbo-engine with an output of 306 hp. The biggest part of the 135ti-sales will be the 3-door hatchback. The BMW 135ti will debut in 2007 for the 2008 model year.

Nice hatch. A3 looks better though- IMO of course.

Suprisingly nice looking. I thought Sauceboy mistyped the URL (BMW 335ti) and I thought, hmm, that would be an odd car to bring out now. Although, I think the black is hiding some lines, which in person, may detract from the overall look of this hatchback.

Is that a 2 passenger?

The 1 series screams Civic to me every time I see it. BMW could make a smaller car than the 3, but they have to be careful not to make it look cheap.

They have to be VERY careful!

Have no idea why they haven't introduced 1-series to the US market. Maybe think its useless because there is no C-Class Sports Coupe.

And an answer to a 1-Series M. They aren't going to make any because they think people can get confused with that and the M1. But I wouldn't care if people looking at my car get confused with another one. There is obviously difference betweent he two.

Nice bodykit... but the S-Line A3 is better looking, still, in my opinion.

The A3 3.2 just looks mean coming down the road- it's more agressive than the S6 or S8!

Yep
Those A3 3.2 S-Lines are not to be messed with, Was fooling around behind one the other day while driving a CLK 280 Sport and just when I pulled out to Overtake the Bugger Dissapeared like i was Standing Still, Still Hurts when i Think about it.

I hope they make a white one, put M colour stripes around it and put a OBRUT sticker on the front.

There isn't any Golf this far up the scale.

Actually in some segments VW is competing against BMW/MB and its own Audi division.

The one series is seen as both shield and expansion for BMW.
A shield, because as to fend off the recent pricey and more upscale Golf. And expansion, because it allowed BMW to enter in the premium hatchback market.

If it's anything like the 335i in its segment than it's a bargain.

"If it's anything like the 335i in its segment than it's a bargain."

The 1 Series has always been the most expensive, least practical hatch on the market. And the 135ti will only push that reputation farther. I expect it to be about £10K more than the class average.

MDalle-

"The A3 3.2?! Thats a 250 bhp car with a V6 way out in front of the front axle! The S3 is way better! But none of them will be as much as close to the 135ti! And the A3 does not look aggressive in any way! It looks like any other hatch! The Golf V looks way more aggressive than the A3! And im pretty sure once you actually get a look at the m-spoilers (not the wrapping around them) this will be one aggresive little fella!"

First of all, I was only remarking on the A3 3.2's looks, not its powertrain. I myself have an A3 2.0T as a winter beater, and see the 3.2 as a bad deal.

Have you ever seen an A3 coming at you on the road? It looks about as mean as an M5. That is, to say, mean. It looks angrier than my car, for sure.

Don't be so sure about the S3. My 2.0T powertrain with the unbelievable DSG transmission is lithe in itself; 0-60 in 6.1 seconds. I wouldn't be surprised if the S3 is about one second quicker. If BMW can pull the gearing off, the 135 can beat it, but not by much.

And for looks, practicality and luxury, the S3 beats it by miles. Not to mention its sublime handling (even the normal A3 with the Sport Package handles better than my friend's 3 Series coupe).
