Let’s take a look at the differences between BMW 5 Series and Mercedes-Benz E-Class and determine which car has better characteristics. Take a note that we excluded driving experience.

First of all the size of the vehicle for the new 5 Series has increased. The new model is longer wider and passengers can sit more comfortably on the rear seats that in the E-Class. However, the trunk of the BMW remained small, and Mercedes has larger cargo capacity.

I've owned 4 BMWs in my life, and loved them all, but ever since the "Flame Surface" design movement I think BMW has lost me.

The more I visit their websites and see their products, the more I'm feeling like a Mercedes sort of guy.

It's too early to compare them. And this article is pretty lame, at best.

No battle. The pecking order currently is (in the price segment):

#1 Mercedes E
#2 Lincoln Continental
#3 Genesis G80 (BMW performance at a Hyundai price)
#4 CTS
#5 5 Series
#6 A6
#7 Lexus whatever
#8 Infiniti whatever
#9 Jaguar XF

I hate to break it to you but in every major mags comparo conducted right after all of these cars are redesigned, the Audi A6 comes in first, the Infiniti second. I know it grinds the gears of you europhile german/american auto fanboys, but you guys gotta give up the hate of japanese autos, it's so 1950s of you!

I'm actually unimpressed by the E right now. The exterior is nice but not distinctive. The interior is cool but not necessarily luxurious. I saw one the other day with the analog gauges and it looks bad and it's a 4 cylinder too... naaa I'm good.
The 5 is an underwhelming redesign. I do like to Continental but I'm not quite old enough for that yet. The Cadillac is starting to look good to me ??

The new E looks too much like the C to me. Wish the new 5 had a more revolutionary look, but I think it looks great, inside and out.

MDarringer, how the heck do you arrive at this pecking order?!? The Lincoln has not even been reviewed yet and it is essentially a stretched Fusion. FWD is standard. The Genesis drives like, well, a Kia. it is a well done car, but not a drivers car. I would put the A6, MB E and CTS in the top 3 and the order could change depending on comparing CTS-V or base or whatever.
But the Lincoln second, you have to be more serious.

Clearly my use of irony eluded your tiny brain.
