Rendering: 2018 BMW F90 M5 Might Just Be this Good Looking

With the BMW G30 5 Series out, the whole world is waiting for the rest of the 5 Series family. For the moment, we got to take a look at the standard sedan in Luxury, Sport and M Sport guises but we didn’t get to see the Touring model or the BMW F90 M5 for that matter. While the Touring version is coming in the next few months, for the M5 we’ll have to wait a little longer.

However, since we now know what the body of the 5 Series looks like, artists can create M5 renderings that can be quite close to the end design, like the one we have here from X-Tomi Design.

When a Tesla P90 (forget the P100) can smoke a Hellcat, are M and AMG cars dinosaurs? There was a time when the M5 was sublime and cool, largely because you saw one so rarely. Are the times a changing?

At this point in the product cycle, with standard line cars so good/fast/powerful (new 550i?) the M-Cars are basically reduced to being a trim package with performance parts that make the cars less reliable and more difficult to live with in daily use.

BMW M has basically squandered its brand equity and given it up to Mercedes AMG - which is actually quite a durable AND strong performing improvement over the regular line cars.

M, at this point, is for rich kids and people with mid-life crises. Might as well slap a bird decal on the hood - same customers!
